Just like in the Harry Potter books this just comes across as pandering.

Really even ten years ago having Velma being written gay would not have raised eyebrows. At the time the hit show was Glee which was all about feeling good while being werid or a minority.

But they didn't becasue not only is romance a side plot but the required level of minority tokenism required to avoid outrage mobs just did not exist. Now authors have been trying to go back and rewrite their stoires to have alway inculded gay, trans, black or current minority issue. Which is a joke. It is fine not to have a trans charater in every show and book and the only people that really care are the Twitter mob. But they are loud and Hollywood is especially vulnerable to them.

The sad thing about the Velma issue is they're clearly full of it and making stuff up. Velma wasn't off and in a bad relationship in that show, she was the aggressor and totally into it while Shaggy was the one who was uncomfortable.

I can recall exactly when she got too pushy and Shaggy broke up with her, because it was really bizarre. He told her it wasn't fair to Scooby which was just... weird and stuck in my mind even years later. But Velma was never uncomfortable, she was rather horrified that Shaggy picked a dog over her.

Oh I know the trope, yeah. The point though, is that their entire "Velma was always gay" claim was based on Velma being the one who was uncomfortable in the relationship when she was happy and it was Shaggy who was acting weirded out (and frequently running away when Velma got frisky).

granted every version of the scooby doo gang is different but Shaggy has always stuck me as more of a bachelor man, though I will say this. I pity any woman that does have a crush on shaggy, they either need to have a REALLY high matabolism or not be consiencous about their figure. lol

Assuming they aren't soundly defeated of course; although at the same time, they'd probably try to ban all forms of pornography for various reasons. Nerds are actually very introverted, some even have to outright abandon public acceptance to enjoy their hobbies or are enjoying their hobbies due to having a hard time with real life

Whereas SJWs are actually "hyper-normies" as in they're so obsessed with socialization and conformity, that they force themselves and others into things

I can honestly bet these sorts of people would have more fun drinking alcohol, partying, taking drugs and smashing other people's things, knowing they'll be affecting other people or it's all a "group activity" makes them feel so much more better than watching an entire John Wick marathon
