Sooooo anyone see anything interesting on Witcher: Blood Origin yet?

Not sure why I felt the urge to post about it mysterious in this thread... :sneaky:

X-Men Has Officially Destroyed An Iconic Marvel Team's Reputation

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Wolverine, a classic member of the X-Men has epically ruined the reputation of X-Force, the mutant nation of Krakoa's primary security team. Deciding that Logan is much better as a mindless weapon, Hank McCoy's Beast has turned Logan into his attack dog complete with a dark obedience collar. Beast has effectively brainwashed Logan to be his unfeeling assassin in the name of "protecting Krakoa and mutantkind". However, Wolverine can only be controlled for so long, and one mistake has led to a massive international incident.

As seen in the new Wolverine #28 from Benjamin Percy and Juan José Ryp, Beast's pet Wolverine was too eager during an unsanctioned assassination mission. Not waiting for Beast to turn off the cameras, Logan was recorded murdering a US general who'd been proposing military strikes to seize Krakoa's resurrection technology. As if Wolverine's noted absences from the rest of X-Force weren't suspicious enough, the rest of the team has begun to notice something's not right as Beast's darkness progresses to outright villainy, torturing and manipulating Wolverine in secret to such as degree that Logan might as well be back in the Weapon X program.

So this is how our favorite franchises end, burning in flames.

So I was browsing r/Fantasy and there was a massively upvoted post about just how bad the Wheel of Time and Rings of Power TV series were.

And of course, alongside all the comments either saying the shows weren't too bad, or sticking their fingers in their ears about the ruinous effect of progressive politics, was a mod comment pinned right at the top:

It's getting pretty old now, folks: Any whining about "forced diversity" or "woke" etc will get you a permanent ban from the sub.

Those God damn fucking cowards just cannot face the fact that it is their team, their dogma, that is screwing everything up, and they'll do everything in their power to astroturf simple pattern recognition out of existence.

Edit: You know what, fuck it, I'll hit the nuclear take. "Diversity" is absolutely something to worry about as it is almost always a red flag for progressive writers who care more about pushing a message than a writing a good story.

Nothing knew.Soviet writers made many terrible stories about good workers fighting evil imperialists, but people still could read that shit or notching.
Well,at least in sralin times.Later soviets made good sci-fi novels with only lip service to party.

It's incredible how live action fantasy shows are apparently getting worse and worse with every new release. Rings of Power on Amazon, then Willow for Disney Plus and now somehow Netflix's Witcher: Blood Origin has surpassed them all in a race to the depths of Hell.

If I was *checks* Apple TV right now I would be double checking how the production of Time Bandits is going.

No... wait... Actually you know what, fuck Apple. Give the showrunners complete creative freedom.

They're run by progressives.

If you think things are always on the up, always going your way as part of the inevitable march of progress (the Whig view of history), why would you stop?

So much money and time and... yes even talent lost on these shows. After all of the Eowyns and Aryas and Valerias you'd think... alas...

I wanna create a Versus match scenario with all of these new Fantasy Girl protagonists but all of these shows are so terrible that no one is watching them so there'd be nothing to discuss. 😞

A New Princess Bride Scenario alone would be great for the humorous ree'ing. :sneaky:

That was your first mistake.

The subreddit used to be good. But, within the past five years, it's gone straight into the trash. Before, people would post worthwhile discussion and recommendations about fantasy novels, shows, and movies. Now, it's people constantly complaining about older books containing "too many" straight men or the lack of "badass" women writing "badass" books about "badass" POC lesbian mages, or they are requesting/recommending books meant for teenagers struggling to figure out if they identify as a velociraptor or a barstool. Of course, any resistance to this death spiral is met with swift banning by pandering moderators.

/r/printsf is slowly on the way there, but it's still good for now.

So this is how our favorite franchises end, burning in flames.

It reads like another of those really dumb character changes meant to boost exposure or whatever like Captain America saying Heil Hydra or turning Punisher into a Frankensten monster and so on and so forth. The main drawback of these is how they just get progressively worse in both writing and the social messaging it often inserts. Though I guess there could be a danger in it not getting retconned back into something resembling sanity.

The thing is with marvel comics being so broke they can't even pay their artist, I'm afraid that the comic division will go under before this stuff has the chance to get retconed

It also looks like a lot of the Woke Prestige shows are going away. Not all but look at Prime and HBO to see the start of the trend. While Prime has the Lord of the Rings mess some of their biggest hits where Jack Ryan, Reacher and Terminal List. All shows that the woke crowd hated but audiences loved.

I have even seen articles taking about Prime is going after the Dad audience and how it will limts its offerings and diversity. I have also seen reporters whine about how puting money over diversity in the Discovery merger is seeing a lot of smaller shows like Legendary on HBO Max get the ax. Even hollywood is seeing this with Bros under preforming and Ticket to Paradise or Lost City both made large amounts of money.

When times where good and budgets plentiful writers and studios could push their pet project and still get a couple of seasons before starting a new woke show. Now investors are looking for pay offs and now longer willing to shell out money for any random idea. This means I expect more stuff like Terminal Lists that have a wide appeal and less nitche shows that target small demographics that don't payout.

The age of the free money is ending and even gaints like Warner Brothers and Netflix are looking at the bottom line which means I expect more stuffike Terminal List and less stuff like Babysitter Club.

So Apparently She-Hulk is now being in a coma and being used to power a city

Things haven't been going well for Sakaar, also known as Planet Hulk. A thousand years into the future, long after the Hulk first came to the planet, the society is still at war. A grand priestess of Sakaar wants to eliminate all of a green skin people living there. Hulk Amadeus Cho lives on Sakaar and has been tasked with stopping the genocide. However, he knows he is not up to the challenge alone. He needs to find the original Hulk Bruce Banner.

In Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #2 by Greg Pak and Manuel Garcia, Amadeus Cho actually manages to find Bruce Banner, but he is not in any mindset to help. While in Bruce Banner's hut, they find a picture of She-Hulk during a peace treaty signing. A lawyer by trade, she was able to negotiate a long peace on the planet that obviously didn't last. Cho wants to find She-Hulk and have her help, but Bruce is totally against the idea. In the issue's closing moments it's revealed that there is a floating city above the surface that She-Hulk is apparently tapped into, her power allowing it to stay airborne

...Are they just trying to pee off marvel comic fans now?

explanation for the uninitiated here?
The original X-Men believed that Mutants were just humans with gifts...similar to just being strong/genius/beautiful as a human. Thus everyone is still equal, and everyone deserves freedom and basic human rights.

Now, the X-Men are just enslaving their own people and deciding when people need to die.

The X-Men are supposed to be 'generic mcoppressed minority' particularly the blacks. Which is why people hate these people with in born superpowers instead of being excited their kid could be a superhero. Right? Makes total sense. Something, something, fear of something, fight racism. But that was the legit intent.

So, the enslavement by the 'good guys' of another one of the 'good guys' is like if a Black homosexual transwoman enslaved the muslim pansexual transman. Except the writers don't get that, because they don't actually have things like principles, conviction, ethics or morals.

Nobody who currently writes for Marvel has ever been oppressed. Made a second class citizen, etc, etc. Not really, not the way that it used to be. And most of the time in the modern day, they're doing the oppressing/bigoted acts.

So what should be a recurring storyline about community, found family, the difficulties therein, and equality had turned into (Again, actually) a supremacist ethno-police-state where enslaving one of your most prominent members is okay, because you're doing it not the Oppressing Sub-Human Straight White Mundie Men.
