Trump Investigations Thread

And the answer you're going to get from Trump supporters, is that as a victim of a witch hunt, who is in no way going To be treated fairly, holding on to some stuff that you might be able to hold over someone's head isn't a terrible tactic.

They aren't wrong, either.
I don't doubt that'll form part of the spaghetti flung at the wall. Pretty dumb part though. Contingency planning for an attack on a hostile country is hardly damaging to any particular person, and "But it was personally useful to the defendant!" would have to be about the stupidest ever defense for illegal behaviour.

So, the audio record released Tuesday certainly seems like pretty damning evidence against trump. I suppose it's not a new development since the relevant details were already in the indictment, but still interesting having trump outright state that:
  1. He still has the documents after they were all claimed to be returned in compliance with the earlier subpoena.
  2. The document is still classified.
  3. It's very much not the kind of thing you could call personal records.
The evidence is irrelevant; everyone with a brain knows this trial is a blatant case of selective enforcement over something that, at worst, should have only merited a misdemeanor charge, not a felony one.

their goals are to
1 gain power
2 attack capitolism
3 destabilize the system
4 bring about the communist revolution

discrediting the DoJ as an institution with overt political actions is a benefit to them. it means that there will be less trust in the institutions assisting in destabilizing the system. it also attacks their opposition helping them gain or keep power. they are your enemies and they are a cancer that wishes to kill america.

I don't think they want a communtard revolution but to establish something more akin to what the PRC has.

🤨 By what insane standard does unauthorised taking of classified military plans, and then refusing to return them and even lying about doing so warrant a misdemeanor charge? Perhaps there's another example recently of a more normal person who took military files they weren't supposed to and shared them with people they shouldn't have... Oh yeah!

As for selective enforcement, they've actually given him the benefit of the doubt. You realise he's not been charged for the documents that were returned? Now, technically he could have been because he still took them without authority, and refused to give them back when asked, right up until they were subpoenaed. So that's one big difference between him and other officials who had documents they shouldn't; he tried to unlawfully keep them when asked to return them. The other significant difference, as again demonstrated by the released audio, is that they weren't sitting around forgotten about in storage. He not only knew he had them, he was whipping them out to show to people he knew had no authority to see them.

Or perhaps, more simply, their goal was to keep sensitive and damaging government and military information out of the hands of people with no authority over it, who were actively sharing it with even more unauthorised and unsecure people. But yeah, I suppose it's equally possible it's part of some brilliant yet bumbling, secret yet obvious, massive conspiracy. 🤔

Hillary's Emails, Bill Clinton's sock drawer, Biden's Garage with boxes from when he was Vice pres and a senator. nope. there have been other times this could have been applied to even more egregious violators. the difference here is it can be put on a political enemy.

Hillary Clinton's case lacked evidence but probably should have seen her charged with something they could get to stick. Bill was taken to court and won, because his documents were personal records which is wildly different from retaining military plans, and Biden had files he shouldn't have but by all accounts didn't even seem to know they were there and promptly gave them back as soon as they were asked for. To repeat myself, trump is only being charged for his conduct after he was asked for the documents, then subpoenaed for them, and then lied about having complied with that subpoena. There's several significant differences, beyond just the fact that it was trump.

that is certainly an interesting take. counter point. they have been hoaxing and saying they will get him since 2016. I have no faith in this accusation being any more credible than the piss tapes or russiagate or impeachment hoax 1 or impeachment hoax 2. after a certain amount of bad faith action and false accusations the default is that they are doing more of the same because they hate Orange Man.

Are you not following along at all? There's literally audio of him sharing the documents, whilst acknowledging they're classified, with publishers of all people, after he'd responded to the subpoena by saying he'd returned everything. The facts aren't actually in any kind of legal dispute, and are inherently damning.

Have there?

I mean, they just released that recording of Trump himself confessing to key elements of the case. Unless you're suggesting that they are deepfakes, then these accusations are more credible than the piss tapes until we get audio of Trump talking about that time he pissed on women in Moscow.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were deepfakes at this point.

"But Joey got away with it when he did it!" didn't work in Kindergarten and shouldn't work now either.

The fact that enforcement is selective is a serious problem, but it doesn't absolve the person who's actually on trial for committing the crime, it just means there needs to be more even enforcement.

The pictures of where the boxes were stored also deepfakes, right? & all the witnesses are lying.
and so we arrive at a point where no one trusts anyone unless they are politically aligned with them. while our system is based on being a relatively trusting society. there will surely be no repercussions or second order consequences from these actions as trust is further eroded.

coolio I totally trust that as much as the piss tapes that show a notorious germaphobe and clean freak getting a hotel in russia to piss on a bed. and that the tapes of trump on an elevator somewhere doing something bad totally exist. and that this time the walls are really closing in. that this time it isn't politically motivated and they are finally acting in the best interests of the country and not to maintain their power and line their pockets.

neat. I totally believe that they were in no way cut down, edited, or fed into a program that will sample it and other things trump has said to make it say something else. they totally have him this time. the walls are closing in.

please ignore the 30,000 emails. and the classified docs in an unsecured garage. and the sock drawer. this isn't political. orange man is bad.

if action is selectively applied when politics align then they are acting in a political manner and should be treated as such. they should not be surprised if they end up receiving the same treatment either.

Coolio. Again, trump has himself basically vouched for the recordings authenticity.
