Trump Investigations Thread

Second thing to keep in mind is, Trump was served a grand jury subpoena requiring production of anything with classification markings, including any national defense information (thereby avoiding any claim of “but it was declassified!”). Grand jury subpoenas, at least in criminal probes, are not suggestions where one has to initiate another lawsuit and spend time to get it enforced. Failure to comply usually results in more, uh, drastic measures.
This is the first time that I've heard he was ordered to turn over materials and refused.

Got a reference for that?

All I've heard is that he cooperated with everything and even added additional security to the storage at the request of the national archives.

I mean if Biden gets a pass for storing classified documents he wasn't allowed to have for ANY reason in his garage...

But let's be real. This is pure bullshit and political prosecution.

We're third world now. Yaaaay!

Lets remember that since this can be done to Trump its open season on all democrats who do the same.

SOOROOOS!

Edit:

This meddling old fuck needs to just die already.

if Trump ends up in jail he is gonna be wrote in by more people than voted for Ross Perot. the only path that would be accepted is if someone promised to pardon Trump and go on a bloody warpath. Trump is already just under 60% the vote in the primaries right now. this is only going to harden the support for him.

It isn't like the DOJ has any legitimacy anyway, my hope isn't just for jury nullification and more that accelerationism and revenge/attaintment-based social and political maneuvering become normalized discourse and national policy amongst the Republican base.

What should come out of this is a world where anyone who works for Federal Law Enforcement or as a member of the professional class vaguely friendly with the Federal Government could face abandonment, ostracization, and isolation from their neighbors and relentless lawsuits for something as minor as sneezing in public.

The idea should be to make the people who think they know better than us and have a right to rule us not serve us wake up every day with crushing depression, anxiety and despair and to hear people call them a traitor to their faces at least ten times a day.

There are several classes of people who have usurped our Republic and those people should be made to hate themselves.

it's the only way to protect them from Lizzo's twerking toots.

worst part was she could actually play it well. she chose to play it like shit at the concert while jiggling her rolls.

I remember that. It still makes my blood boil.

Like the GOP has the guts to do that…they want Trump and the rest of us to go away so they can go back to the Good Old Days when the Neo-Cons and RINOs ruled.

Wont work.

Not long term, Just like the first Grachi brother spelled the end for politics as usual so does trump, and if it wasn't him it would be some one else. Fact is once trump dies (my money is on the establishment assasinating him) he will just be replaced by another populist.

Fact is they might be able to win the short term but it just means that they will fucking weep for the days of trump 30 years down the line.

So you say. And again I must express my doubts that it will take 30 years.

I actually think it will take longer then 30 years, but this is going to be a see saw kind of thing for awhile the establsihment will have their victories and the populists will have their victories, but the other side is very much on a timer because their cultish and feel a need to pretty much piss off everyone.

That means their going to be playing an increasingly difficult global game of whackamole.

on the one hand longer life expectancies could make the generational shifts take longer as the old maintain their power longer. on the other the internet's ability facilitate rapid communication and the ability to share data means that lies get uncovered quickly. on the other hand AI deep fakes mean that pretty soon faked images and videos to confirm your bias will be able to be fed to the mob while any evidence from your opposition can be dismissed out of hand because it is obviously fake. this is not gonna be a good decade at all...

So, it’s important to note that, while presidents generally keep some former records, there ARE several caveats.

First and foremost, documents kept from a presidency remain the property of the U.S. government and are not transferred to the ownership of the individual (they’re considered to be on indefinite loan, and from what I remember, actually selling off government property has to be done by act of Congress). If for some reason NARA demanded that a paper or papers be returned to them from, say, Obama’s presidential library, Obama would have to comply or risk jail time.

Third thing is, Biden did also fuck around, and sure it’s selective prosecution (“willful disregard” or whatever the phrase is just varies in degree; ‘negligence’ is not a legal defense), but as with pretty much everything else, the rules are different for people at the top vs worker bees.

So, from a legal standpoint, Trump is screwed; the only hope he really has is jury nullification (that is, hoping a sympathetic juror decides not to convict). Since it’s in South Florida and not DC, that isn’t out of the question, but it’s not a guarantee.

And sure, it’s a selective prosecution compared to Clinton or Biden; the problem for Trump is that, and the end of the day, he apparently DID do exactly what he’s accused of.

I've heard none of this. All accounts I've heard kn this is that Trump and his legal team were in constant communication with archives and records and other branches of the Government. They even upgraded security at Government request. Then the FBI used those communique as the basis for their raid. I'm sorry, this just doesn't fly.

Then you have the consitutional argument that as president Trump can declassify anything he damned well wants.

This is one of those things that could easily go to the supreme court with said court telling the left to go pound sand.
