Trump Investigations Thread

I’d also point out that in addition to not being self-funding, Trump is actively using the GOP as his personal piggy bank. One example being the “legal defense fund” he supposedly set up for January 6th protestors…all the money instead ended up going to paying his presidential campaign’s bills and his own legal bills (it was buried in the fine print on being used for other purposes so it was technically legal). Then other fundraisers were used to raise money for paying his legal team for Caroll’s defamation suit, among other things. Not for any actual campaigns.

People want him to run now because nominating Trump would hand the presidency to a senile old guy who’s unlikely to serve out his full term, followed possibly by vice president who is breathtakingly incompetent and would be utterly out of her depth.

We found out from his first term that Trump doesn’t really give a shit about actually doing the job, he just likes the perks. To succeed, he’d need top drawer talent, but given how awful a boss (and person) he is, nobody with any sense wants to work for him. And to get the executive branch under control, you need capable people. People who will follow the Constitution and make sure everything is done according to the rules so such changes will stick, and people who can be trusted to restore faith in the federal government. That is, the complete opposite of the type of person Trump wants (where the only thing that matters is loyalty to him, and fuck everything else).

The indictment we’ve seen so far, plus everything else coming down the pipe, shows Trump doesn’t give a shit about national security or any crisis he causes or lives he puts at risk (some of those documents, according to the indictment, were from human sources). So why anyone is still supporting someone who actually doesn’t care about the rule of law or protecting national security or upholding the Constitution (like he swore to do) is beyond me.

Honestly, if he is the nominee, Biden is screwed because being a generation younger, not being senile, and actually having a very good track record as an executive would likely generate as close to a landslide victory as possible.

Trump is still in the lead, but so was Howard Dean in 2003. Not to mention in debates, if he doesn’t show up and everyone starts roasting him while laying out their visions, he’s going to sink badly.

Not to mention, this indictment is going to really hurt him as the evidence makes its way into the general discourse. He’s also facing the Georgia stuff (debatable whether that would actually succeed), but also an investigation into whether he weaponized the IRS, and a securities fraud investigation over raising money for Truth Social as a venture (it’s a bit of arcane law, but is a criminal matter, and seems to have legs).

Maybe it’s just time we switch to a candidate who doesn’t have a habit of landing himself in hot water due to his own idiocy?
dude. trump is leading DeSantis in florida. Trump is leading desantis 60% to 20%. in the polling for the general Trump leads biden by about 5 points just like desantis. the difference? desantis gets lower overall numbers because a significant portion of the republicans base will choose to stay home. with the indictments? soft support for trump is hardening and it will be harder to split off his votes.

at this point the only way I would vote for a non Trump republican president is if Trump ends up in jail and barred from running. in that case my only issue I care about would be if the candidate runs on pardoning him day 1 and launching similar levels of retaliation against democrats.

Pretty sure DeSantis never locked down FL during COVID-19. He was rewarded with massive landslide victory in 2022.

He did, we just ignored him and his edicts completely and he realized that made him look like a chump and that he could gain more clout by feuding with local mayors who were more militant than he was so he reversed course.

The guy's uniparty he's just rebranded himself in a "hello fellow populists" sort of way. That's why he went from barely beating a gay drug addict whose male prostitutes were dropping like flies to a massive win.

Edit- no one on the populist right wants a candidate who will select top talent from inside the system.

They want someone who will humiliate and attaint anyone loosely affiliated with the system.

Dun think you guys get this.

Every election from now until the middle of the century is going to be a referendum on the upper middle class and college educated- managerial types.

And it's going to get meaner and less constructional every election season unless the populists feel satisfied early on.

I'm 100% backing DeSantis all the way.

You're backing a uniparty stooge.

Not because DeSantis agrees with them on a personal level, if anything he'll do what Nixon did with conservatives and Neocons and thank them for their services and then fuck them all over and go full CCP simp.

Not that, that wouldn't be hilarious. Nothing would absolutely mangle mainstream political discourse and parties more than yet another snake in office.

If you're into accelerationism vote Ron.

If you're into vengeance/a more hardline restoration of the republic/Reorganization of the GAE into all an All American less global people get gibs while Americans get fucked?

...Then vote whoever is going to make the soccer parents stay quiet in their kitchens and the bureaucrat and lawyer and middle management guy at the bank afraid to enforce an ESG quota because he might wake up and find out he doesn't have a job because the board that runs his bank just got Escobar'd by delta boys under an EO that probably will get nullified by the Supreme Court after the deeds done.

What I'm saying is voters of today and tomorrow aren't voting for a democracy because we never had one. Our Republic got killed and overthrown by the CIA in the 1960s and the next 30 years of election cycles need to be about making the descendents people responsible for that lose as much personal power as humanly possible.

Also purging progressivism from our society because that shit's a cancer yo

DeSantis plans on reversing the Biden administration's plans on changing names of military bases. DeSantis plans on bringing back Fort Bragg.

Umm...you weren't paying attention then at all were you?

Agree with this.

Talk about buying the D-Party line. Stop watching MSM for your info.
Not to mention, this indictment is going to really hurt him as the evidence makes its way into the general discourse.
The indictments have actually strengthened Trump in the polls and in his support.
Maybe it’s just time we switch to a candidate who doesn’t have a habit of landing himself in hot water due to his own idiocy?
Not necessarily a bad idea here. Trump has a bad habit of being off the cuff. It hurts him some, but it also endears him to a huge swath of the population b/c he doesn't SOUND like a politician.

One thing everyone on here can agree on: This will be another MESS!

Do you have any actual evidence of this? Any actual proof beyond Trump saying so?

Ever since the end of the Wuhan virus lockdowns DeSantis has done nothing but advance conservative goals. Including going after the CCP's ability to buy property in Florida.

The establishment used to promise to do conservative stuff every election season and always lied. DeSantis following through is enough to convince me he's honest.

We were locked down. DeSantis issued an executive order to lock down everything but essential services on April 1, 2020.
IIRC, he did lock things down, but actually kept it to two weeks for full lock down, and dropped the partial lockdown after just a couple months?

I will mention that Trump is most likely going to lose the general because the dems know that if he wins primaries they are good to stay in power.
Because the US general population, nit the ones in spheres like ours, hate him AND Biden, and would most likely vote Third Party, winning it for Biden, if they don't vote Biden.
