The War in Afghanistan

Frankly, as an American, I have no problem with the British Paras doing what they are doing to get their people.

Apparently, Biden left all our allies hanging with the timing of this. It's a freeking mess of our President's making.

I feel for all the soldiers on that base that are told to just stand there with their dicks in their hands, watching another military work.

The British Paras are risking triggering a confrontation with the Taliban, which is why the U.S. isn't doing it and why there is tension on the ground between the two forces. All it takes is the Taliban getting upset and this gets very, very fucking ugly fast.

It get's ugly, for the Talidan...

As it is, even with the US media doing their dammed hardest not to actually cover the shit going on on the ground the US is a hairs breath away from just bulldozing through everything. And once that happens the Taliban lose.

Basically, we in the Army want out, glad to get out. BUT as soon as things start going to shit, we going there to show them they better be glad we leaving

If the hostages die they get bombed to smithereens that operation rolling thunder and all the bombs in WW2 would look like a sideshow.

Nation building was a mistake. It should've been a punitive expedition before leaving a minor presence for the Taliban opposition to take advantage of.

Oh for sure.
Some people say the Taliban are afraid to mess with the Brits, it's more they are scared it causes the US to get invovles

Yea, people see Biden doing nothing and think that's that.

But the fact is he's gotta be under tremendous pressure from the other Democrats on this. Because they know that if American's die and they are seen as sitting on their asses doing nothing while it happens it's going to murder their chances at keeping a majority in the next couple elections.

Ugly how? What are we going to do, bomb them? Oh wait....

U.S. Airstrikes in Afghanistan Could Be a Sign of What Comes Next - August 3rd
US unleashes B-52s in bid to stem Taliban advance - August 7th
US B-52 bombers and gunships sent into action in Afghanistan in attempt to stop Taliban advance on key cities - August 7th
B-52s Airstrikes Against Taliban - August 10th

The Taliban still achieved decisive victory in 11 days despite this all out effort. Nevermind the last month or even this year, how exactly is bombing now supposed to achieve anything when it categorically failed to achieve decisive results in the past 20 years? To be blunt, they have us by the balls here; if we upset them, they use small arms, mortar fire and MANPADS to shut down the airport. Once the water, food and ammunition runs out the Taliban kill or capture everyone there or still trapped in Afghanistan.

This "America Fuck Yeah" outlook is going to get a lot of people killed in the immediate term and in the long term if people fallback on it instead of actually realizing it has no basis in reality and we need to learn from Afghanistan.

No... We will send in fifty to sixty thousand troops with "kick them out of the city" orders...

You need to understand the Taliban can't actually hold ground against the US military if the US military actually tries.

That's what happened to ISIS when the gloves were out.

Well, if there's one positive thing that's coming out of this? It's showing even the most densest of Libtards that (the living) voting for Biden was just as stupid as trusting a Russian with a bottle of vodka, or an Englishman with a cup of Early Grey. 😜 Or, you know, China as a whole with other people's property/land.

I wrote a bit of a commentary on this. To sum up, United States lost the war in the Afghanistan the moment they decided to set up a modern parliamentary "democracy". A feudal kingdom or just a tribal alliance had a far better chance of success, but of course that is something US would have never contemplated, what with their belief that democracy is the best seesteem evah, ya gitz!

It is not the only reason, of course, but it is probably the main one.
