The shelves are getting empty

I'll be honest, my family and I haven't really been affected by this. Yes I've noticed prices going up but as far as the stores not having what I need...meh. Now that could be that we aren't addicted to buying crap on Amazon. I think it's also a factor of my age ( I'm 50). I remember that sometimes stores were just out of stuff so you either picked something did without or you had to wait.
I've seen grocery stores around here with entire shelves/departments completely empty.

Though form the most part they have been fully stocked.

The only thing I've noticed completely missing and never restocked are things like lunchables and other processed crap. I've also noticed that sometimes a particular brand of an item might be out. In that case I just pick a different brand. Fresh non processed foods seem to be fine however. As far as electronics go we don't buy much so maybe I just haven't noticed.

My local grocer had literally no beef. None.

They were re-stocked the next day though and it hasn't been a problem since.

I saw a Walgreens have literally nothing in the refrigerated food section on a Friday evening a few weeks ago. They were empty until at least Monday morning.

The gas stations across the street were out of milk too, but that's most weekends for them.

EDIT: I wasn't dealing with Kroger on a Friday right after work for a just gallon of chocolate milk unless I had to ... $8.00 at Walgreens would have been worth it.

I just finished a shopping trip to my local Kroger store, and the shelves were...not bare, but not full either.

The beef section was still good, mostly because CO does a lot of locally grown beef, and the essential stuff was not missing.

However I did notice the bakery was more bare than usual, as was the diet section, and the cat food section has bee spotty the last few months.

Gas around here seems to have stabilized at about $3.59, though it's as high as $5 in some of the mountain towns; a lot of times diesel is cheaper than unleaded.

I'm slowly trying to build up a small emergency supply reserve with canned goods and the like, plus at least a couple months of pet food, in case things start getting real scarce.

Got myself a small camping solar panel as well, to help reduce how much energy I use on things like charging phones or batteries, and to give me an emergency power source if the grid has issues.

Cat food shortages have been going on a long time due to the aluminum shortages.

Some companies have switched to plastic containers.

Last year I couldn't find my cat's food for weeks, I was literally rationing cat food because she will only eat the one kind. (She'll literally let herself starve before eating anything other than friskies turkey and cheese shreds)

Food wise here in Massachusetts seems largely okay. Some brands had fewer options then usual but otherwise were still stocked normally.

Thankfully I had enough catfood stored to last me a year dry wise and three months on the wet as otherwise my boys will start to give me looks if I didn't feed them.

Almost all shelves were well-stocked in my local New Hampshire supermarket... except frozen vegetables. The freezers were 90% empty, more than half of items sold out, and I didn't see any evidence of two-for-one sales or the like. Will check again in a few days, perhaps they're de-stocking them for maintenance or something?

My cat food is usually Fancy Feast; the canned stuff comes in what I think is low grade brass or bronzed tin.

I also think he would eat canned tuna if need be, but I'm trying to save that sort of thing for the human food part of the emergency supplies.

I do not know what the situation is elsewhere, but have lumber prices come down/shortages ended elsewhere? Because in CO, the lumber is a little better now, but large boards are still hard to find.

The first thing the Bolsheviks did was demonize the "hoarders". Great leap forward, too. You know, farmers that kept one bushel of grain to plant the next spring.

Next they were burning their furniture to produce crap metal in their barren fields.

No doubt theyll continue to send food/products overseas while we get limits.

Oddly enough canned tuna is actually cheaper than cat food in my neck of the woods and you need to be careful when giving it to cats.

Too much and they'll get sick. The wrong kind might kill them. If it's preserved with water and salt it's "cat OK". If it's preserved using vegetable oil it is most definitely not "cat OK".

I tend to buy chicken leg quarters for spare cat food. Used to be a buck and a half a pound for them though they've gone up a touch, still outstrips any cat food I ever encountered for price.

Housecats, unlike dogs and people, are not omnivores. They are obligate carnivores and very effective pest control waging their own private genocide on all the little creepy crawling and flying things we'd rather not see. They sometimes bring us presents in the form dead things bigger than they are.

Bears don't scare them:

Good to know.

I had to use canned tuna to try and get an old cat to eat his meds, and only got stuff with water based preservatives.

But would not have thought the oil based stuff was dangerous for cats; that's a good tidbit to have.

When Fluffy the Terrible leaves a dead coyote on the doormat she is not offering you her leftovers as a thank you. She is saying "you suck and here's how it's done."

Our first cat was very affectionate... and would regularly bring us his kills and captures. Our back porch would have rats, birds, racoons, tarantulas, and more.

I will forever remember the day he brought us a live rattlesnake that was four feet long. Our cat was holding it firmly by the neck, and the snake was still trying to escape. But when it started squirming enough to make holding onto it difficult, our cat just started bopping the snake on the head until stopped moving so much.

That's totally believable and so totally housecat. Fluffy is almost 20yrs old, weighs 7lbs dripping wet, and our neighbour's malemute is terrified of her despite being at least 15 times her size. "the Terrible" is a well earned honorific.

A deer is puppy-play to a dog and does aren't much larger than wolves. If they were bringing home buffalo and moose, that would be a day ending in -y for their wild cousins.
My dogs were not that big and still did it
