The One Stop Football Thread (NFL,CFL,CFB)

With the remaining coaching vaccancies filled up (Mike McDaniel: Miami Dolphins; Lovie Smith: Houston Texans & Dennis Allen: New Orleans Saints), is it safe to say former Miami Dolphins Football Coach Brian Flores has been blackballed & declared persona non-grata by the 32 NFL owners ?

A.) YES

B.) NO

C.) TBD

I would say C because it depends on how he comports himself. If he’s businesslike/professional about it (that is, matter-of-fact on why instead of Going Full Kaepernick) then he may find another job.

But it’s the potential publicity factor that’s the real issue rather than any sort of racism.

I dunno, the NFL being racist because only one of the 32 coaches (RIGHT NOW) is Black seems a bit off base. Back in 2017 SEVEN of the NFL Coaches were Black. 🤷‍♀️

Was there a sudden sweep of White Supremacy that flooded the NFL after Trump got into office? Well I mean... I'm sure 40% of the population believes that, but rational people? Maybe the individual franchises are being ignorant though from the details of the lawsuit.

Denny Green and Tony Dungy were successful Black Coaches thirty years ago. So it's not a new thing either.

National Review ran something on this the other day -if there’s a problem with coaching staffs, it’s nepotism. Look at the Shanahans or Harbaughs, for example, but the problem is when you have coaches’ or even owners’ kids getting a gig and working their way up. A lot of the legacy guys are white, sure, but it isn’t systemic racism so much as it is good old-fashioned corruption. Note that that probably also plays a factor as an idiot failson probably is going to have an unfair advantage in staying around longer than an outsider.

Good question considering Grambling St Tigers Football Coach Hue Jackson has been dodging on whether to join Flores in the lawsuit.

Hue Jackson would be hilarious, given that he is, quite literally, the worst head coach in NFL history* and actually lasted longer than other Browns head coaches who didn’t do as poorly.

Jackson probably is hoping he’d personally get something out of it, but joining the suit would actually wreck any case Flores has, given that no reasonable person could say Jackson was fired because he was black, as opposed to being godawful at his job.

*-I can’t hate on Jackson too much because his idiocy did relieve Bert Bell, co-founder of my beloved Eagles, of that particular shame.

The Rams have some FSU alumni, but the Bengals have been blighted with suffering for so long that it's a toss up for me.

Man, I don't think a Half Time has ever had that "don't let it set in" feel like this one, just because how every single one of the performers were at their peak 10-12 years ago.

Most of the preformers should have had a Halftime show years ago, but the NFL didn't like rappers for a long time.

Still was nice seeing them getting together for the show, particularly Dre and Eminem mixing with Snoop and MJ Blidge. Was less impressed by 50 Cent's part.

The Bengals losing the Superbowl is another January 6th Moment.

Worse then 9-11.
In spite of this tragedy, I give you a meme, a meme about yet another Rigged game.

In other news, Apparently the Refs were seen cussing out Bengals fans, calling one a "Sour bitch". I'm unsure of the validity of this, but still, ref seem to be total cunts.
