United States Texas shooting: Fifteen killed in attack on US Elementary School

The Indiana Shooter, from what I saw in the news, had two rifles (one an AR-15) and a Glock but never got past firing the one rifle due to suffering acute lead poisoning ten seconds into his spree.

As is ARs are... really common rifles so it's not that surprising that multiple shooters might have one.

It's just that they look to be the same with the same optics, configured in the same way. They almost look like the same exact rifles. So between that and the cost of these weapons, it kind of makes one wonder if they weren't just given the things by a third party, or perhaps given money to purchase them and told exactly what to purchase.

In the sense of "they both had AR-15s", yes that appears to be the case. But they're not exactly the same per those photos, they've been configured differently.

Though even if they were identically configured, I'm not sure why that would be viewed as done sinister sign. These losers are notorious copycats, cloning a previous shooter's rifle setup sounds right up thier alley.
"GIVEN BY THE GOVERNEMTN" kinda thing.
But yeah BH got it

I wish I thought this might actually be serious consequences but the fact that all the police officers are going to be "placed in different roles" gives me the uneasy feeling this is just theatre. Still suspending the entire police department is something unusual.

Note that to even get this result, the parents of the murdered children literally set up a small tent city and camped outside the school district building while continuously protesting for something like ten days. This was a monumental effort for what should have been a no-brainer.

They need to be charged with manslaughter and accessory to murder and aiding and abetting.

And more ...

Physically preventing someone from assisting a casualty is Assault and Battery at a minimum.

An angry prosecutor could have such an absolute field day with long lists of charges that a judge might say - in private - "You could have added more."

No.

This was an abject failure of the command structure, likely filled with people unsuited to the job who collapsed under pressure. The bobbies at the scene were ready to go in, but the word never came.

You don't punish a soldier for his general's mistake.

Jail them all.

Up and down the chain of command and then the police Union reps as well for good measure.

Salt the fucking earth.

That most of them should be fired for dereliction of duty, I think is fair.

The person who ordered them not to go in, him I would say needs to be brought up on charges, even if it's just 'criminal negligence.' Even in today's legal framework, actively preventing others from trying to save the children means that they can't just claim they aren't legally required to act. They did act, and actively prevented others from helping.
