Visual Political Timeline of the Legends EU post-Endor.

So straight from the aftermath of the Battle of Endor right up through Legacy era, charting the major factions and how they interacted with each other. Pretty cool video IMHO.

It's ironic, that for a timeline that's essentially a composite of multiple authors with little real input from George or indeed, any higher authority, it's actually quite semi-coherent and has a more or less natural flow of events.

Contrast to 'canon' which is a fucking mess despite having complete oversight from the higher-ups.

Then again...maybe that's the whole point?

God I love the Empire at War Expanded guys. They've poured more love, focus, and intelligence into three era mods for a decades old game than Disney ever put into the entire franchise.
That is the petroglyph RTS?

Didn't like the way they remade base building and the whole economy tbh.

Yeah. Somehow the whole working off of previous works didn't last more than two movies in the Sequel trilogy. :sneaky:

I mean, the whole trilogy was a rip-off. TFA has the same basic outline as ANH only with much lens flare, TLJ was more of the same for ESB with added character assassination, and while RoS didn't rip off RotJ, it did rip-off Dark Empire but without any of the latter's 90s charm and atmosphere.

...again, I'm honestly tempted to say putting Michael Bay in charge of the Thrawn trilogy would have come out better. Sure, it'd have been horribly panned, our glorious moral guardians ranting and raving about how he'd have saturated the films with gratuitous violence, fanservice*, and shallow action, but come on. Don't tell me I'm not the only one who'd have appreciated the Battles of Sluis Van, Coruscant, Bilbringi, and others with OMFG EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE, plus Mara Jade pulling off prequel trilogy-tier acrobatics while fighting Luuke, among other wasted potentials.

*Come on, admit it guys. You know you want to see Mara Jade in just a sleeveless top all sweaty from kicking Luuke's ass. Or her dragging Luke himself around in that forest back in Heir to the Empire.

I don't know if it would have been good... but it certainly would have been better.
It would have at least been entertaining.

People like to shit on Bay for the Bayformer movies, but the first three were at least fun popcorn flicks. They didn’t go out of their way to be insulting to the source material.

Yes, I am saying Michael Bay is a more competent director than Jar-Jar Abrams or the shitheel that directed TLJ and I will die on that hill.

Michael Bay is a competent director. He knows exactly what he's doing. He makes zero-content explosion flicks with high budgets because he's figured out that it makes shitloads of money.

He's the McDonald's of film directors. Nobody will mistake his work for a refined masterpiece, but the concept appeals to the masses and rakes in the greenbacks.

That and he’s honest about it. At least I don’t think he’s ever pretended to be someone he isn’t as a director.

There's no way of really knowing. The Force Awakens was serviceable enough but after The Last Jedi there was no way to apparently salvage the trilogy with that third movie having to work off of the second.

I don't think Michael Bay would've been good at all. I think Abrams most meh films including Rise of Skywalker were still qualitatively better then the Bayformer flicks and especially those Turtle movies. Bleh.

Second film sank the trilogies HOPE apparently.

Yup, pretty much. So long as the film makes money, he doesn't give a damn about what the critics say. And more often than not, audiences love him for it. Nothing like verbally flipping the bird at the gatekeepers to get the crowd on your side.

And of course, when a film makes money, the execs are happy, so what does it matter?
