SCOTUS Getting Shade Over Roe v Wade

Arch Dornan

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
Nice to see some parts of the Conservative movement have a backbone.

Unlike another 14 certain individuals that claim to represent Conservatives...
The leak might have played an influence but now the decision can be left to the states rather than forced on all so all the pros especially the crazy enthusiasts on social media can stay on that side of the aisle.

I'm thinking the 14 may know their days were numbered and voted that way as a final fuck you to the rest of us. Some may be planning to retire, others are looking at being primaried. So they had nothing to lose.
Honestly, my bet is that this is a (misguided) attempt to blunt a broad blue voter mobilization on guns. Only with Dobbs, it won't even solve that.

Anyway, time to party!

All I have to say is, God bless America.

...

Well, not just that. While I never thought even the squishy Kavanaugh could back down after the draft opinion was leaked and the politicking & threats started flying (even from a pure 'muh SCOTUS legitimiacy' standpoint, appearing to cave in the face of such intimidation would have done vastly more irreparable damage to that legitimacy than holding the line ever could), I've also got to express my surprise that Roberts managed to make this a 6-3 decision.

I'm of the opinion that Robert's HAS to be part of the winning argument to 'ensure' he's in the win. The majority grants him cover.
Eh, I've been hearing all along that Roberts wanted to uphold Mississippi's law but didn't want to officially bulldoze the technical constitutional right to abortion. From what I've heard so far that's exactly what his separate opinion argues so he stood his ground however stupid that ground was. I imagine he probably wanted to make abortion into the same kind of "right" that the 2nd amendment would be if you could only own single-shot hunting rifles manufactured more than 100 years ago.

Disgusting Scalie
Most people getting mad, or getting absolutely hysterical about how "they will come for gay marriage and inter racial marriage next" have no fucking idea what Roe v. Wade even was or why it was a contentious ruling.

The salt is imense. The tears flow freely. I look forwards to the fire bombing of churches by progressives.

Also, the opinion specifically stated nothing in this decision should be looked at as being related to, or relevant for, anything outside the issue of abortion.

Wow, just wow. Praise God for a new day for life in the United States of America.

If you had told me 6 years ago that Trump being elected would lead to the overturn of Roe v Wade, I would have laughed. I knew that Hillary being elected and getting to replace Scalia would have been a huge setback for the pro-life movement, and I wanted to avoid that, but I couldn't dream that Trump would actually have the opportunity to appoint enough justices, and get them right, resulting in Roe's overturning.

But in one term, Trump got to replace a solid conservative judge, a swing vote judge (who was key in upholding Roe with Casey), and solid liberal judge. And all those appointments voted to overturn Roe.

And 6-3, wow. It's interesting that Roberts' concurrence expresses pretty much what everyone expected from him, that he didn't really want to overturn Roe and Casey. But he still voted with the majority, and that's just a concurrence, not the actual majority opinion that has legal effect. I wonder just how that went down, since my understanding is that when the chief justice is in the majority they get to decide who writes the majority opinion.

Anyways. Praying for safety for the churches and pregnancy centers that are in danger of being targeted for vandalism and violence in the wake of this.

Just a time-traveling robot stranded on Earth.
Wife buys into the leftists narrative on the Roe v Wade so gonna be a fun conversation

Just curious as to what her reaction to pregnancy centers being firebombed must've been?

Shrugging and moving on?

Cheering and calling for more?

Blasting it as "fake" and disbelieving that left-wingers would ever go that far?

Nah she is against that.
She is not a fan of violence and thinks pregnant women should be protected as well.

She isn't a radical down with the patriarchy person
