Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Major General Ivan Popov, Commander of the 58th Army, was removed from his command. Chief of Staff Gerasimov report reportedly thought he complained too much about how field units should be "rotated in and out" and other defeatist alarmism

In addition to the previously announced NASAMs Air Defense Systems, Norway pledged to delivering ver 150,000 field rations and a thousand Black Hornet miniature recon drones.

Another Russian T-90M Main Battle Tanks Loss. This one was damaged and abandoned after Ukrainian drone strikes.

Based off of Oryx's documentation it's estimated that Russian tank losses are increasingly of older Soviet Union era tanks month by month.

Less modern tanks for kgbstan - either they are really loosing,or preparing counter-offensive.
Black Hornet mini drones - i hope, that they could sting!

Article on armored vehicles and their effectiveness in the Ukrainian Counteroffensives. The Ukrainians interviewed state that the French supplied AMX-10 RC tanks have good weapons and instruments for observation but (perhaps expectedly) have poor armor unsuited for frontline offensives and later states issues where its armor was penetrated by 152mm artillery shrapnel. Also the month long training was likely insufficient for the Ukrainian tankers to fully take advantage of their new vehicles.

This is absolutely expected performance -- the AMX-10 RC is not a tank at all, but an armored car designed for reconnaissance. Moreover, it's an early 1980s armored car without any of the fancy systems of later vehicle; it doesn't even have gun stabilization.

Yes.
We should all be ready for war...

If this was a sign at all and not literally a rotation to allow the rest and relaxation of Active troops

Apparently the strike was on a hotel in Berdyansk. Rest In Peace Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov.

Apparently headquarter elements of the 58th Combined Arms Army were located there. Lieutenant General Tsokov was reportedly the Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District.

More details emerging on the Storm Shadow Cruise Missile strike on the Berdyansk Hotel that resulted in the death of Lieutenant General Tsokov.

The counteroffensive really isn't going as well as Ukraine had hoped it would seem.

Russia has more arty, more arty ammo, more planes, and is on the defensive with a massive and deep line of fortifications, minefields, and ATGMs. Is no surprise why the counteroffensive is bogged down. On top of that, with the proliferation of cheap recon drones (civil drones with a camera can do the job), they can see almost everything over the battlefield, and direct their massive advantage in firepower to the places they see Ukranian concentrations/advances.

Russia has been using these systems with great success.

And yet for all these advantages, some real, some over-hyped and less-real, the Ukrainians are gaining ground far faster than the Russians have in any of their offensives in the last year.

Sure, a lot of people were hoping for a crushing offensive like in Kharkiv, or steady advance like around Kherson, but the Ukrainians are still outperforming the Russians even with this incremental advance.

Perun Released a New Video focusing on artillery use in the Ukraine War. This is his second video dedicated to the topic of artillery, the first being about a year old now. Here he talks about the changes Russia has tried to implement regarding artillery usage, the increasingly disproportionate documented losses of Russian Artillery systems in this war, the employment of cluster munitions, and sustainability of NATO/Ukraine Artillery Systems and Ammunition and that of Russia as well.

Video on why Russia didn't invade in 2014 and why it was a mistake:

Yeah, in 2014 Russia would be able to grab much more Ukraine with the sheer shock of it before Ukraine could get its shit in order. Then due to Russia's even more hasty and limited preparations it would turn into a shitshow. Could even allow them to capture the capital. Or get them stuck on several major urban battles they wouldn't have troops for.
One major difference though is that in terms of trade and international relations, Russia would not have time to do even the half assed sanction proofing it did over the last few years, the economic hit would be much worse once it arrived. That's why they went in with stressing holding plausible deniability even at the cost of limiting results, and held on to it even way beyond the point where anyone serious in the West believed it.
