Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Isn't the water sourced from the Dnepr, Ukraine having the hand on the tap anyway?
Or is the tap IN Kherson?
Ukraine can't do anything to stop the water unless / until they retake the dam at Nova Kakhovka. On the flipside the Russians can't do jack spit if they lose the dam since the canal is behind it and only works if the reservoir is filled, so they can't hold Kherson hostage in that way like the stupid games they're playing at Zaphorizia NPP.

You have your dams mixed up.

Ukrainians in Kupyansk and along much of the Western River. The Izyum Area is allegedly almost surrounded on three sides.

Ukrainian forces are attacking... Or perhaps pinning Russian forces in place south of Izyum.

That Pegov guy wants to bail from Izyum.

As are about five hundred cars worth of people. Looks like the Kharkiv People's Republics future might be impacted by these events.

Already fighting in Izyum itself apparently.

It took the Russians like a month to capture the city last Spring.

Some accounts are reporting Izyum already fell/mass surrenders but at the very least there is fighting close to the City.

Keep in mind Izyum falling in Spring was seen and reported in this thread/forum as being key to withering the Ukrainian defenses in the Donbass. Which was partially true considering the hard fought battles in the Luhansk Area that followed.

Here's a list of documented Russian losses yesterday. Includes like ten tanks, air defense vehicles, and an ancient GAZ-51 Cargo Truck which they stopped making like back in the sixties or seventies.

According to the thread in the second tweet, it’s just celebrating Moscow City Day (i.e. the city’s birthday). No coup.

On the other hand, follow up reports people are more upset about the Queen’s death than the invasion going south and whether it’s appropriate to celebrate or not.

Seems all but confirmed that Izyum has fallen. It took the Russians a month to capture the city. It's fallen in a day back to the Ukrainians.

Another day, another long list of Russian Losses.

However this isn't just recent battlefield casualties but also includes depots that were destroyed by HIMARS in days prior. For example...

Also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Motorized Infantry was apparently captured by Ukrainian Recon forces.

Something I posted on August 8th. Turned out this was partly predicted by some.

Allegations that Ukraine is actually focusing Offensive Power in the Izyum Area South of Kharkiv, as opposed to in Kherson in the South.

Not so much a feint as simply Russia only being able to focus on one end of the front to defend instead of the other.

Also some random bits of news...

Rest in Peace Jed Danahay of Australia. Apparently a foreign volunteer who was killed during the fighting around Izyum a few days ago while serving as a Combat Medic and was killed while driving a medical vehicle. Apparently he wasn't a veteran prior, just an adventurer type.

Ukrainian Paratroopers Captured some PMC Soldiers (not Wagner) and at least one was a mortarman from Uzbekistan.

LNR Troops being very unpatriotic whining about things.

A LNR Soldier Captured in Kherson Claims He was Pressed into Service While He Went out Shopping for Shampoo.

Russia's combat reputations officially dies in Ukraine. No one will take their Ground Forces, Navy and Air Force seriously anymore.

When Russia lost the Battle of Kiev, it failed to quickly win the war:

Even if you are able to push on from Makariv and reach the river to the south of the city to encircle the city from the west what does that really mean? It means that you now have to maintain an inner ring against the city, and an outer ring against the entire rest of Ukraine at the same time. You have to split your small force between the two requirements, all the while cut off from the rest of the Russian army on the other bank. It’s very hard to do.

As for more recent developments:
