Russia-Ukraine War Politics Thread Mk. 2

ANC = Absolutely No Competence.

These are the people that the liberal West wanted to have ruling the country.
Not only liberal.Boers were conqered by England, and USA was trying to destroy them after 1948 no matter who ruled in Waschington.

And i could understandt them - who need competent state with H bombs in Africa, when you could have failed one ruled by your creatures?

Well, except Israel,of course. They are no Boers,so they could have good state.

Russia mined the cooling unit at the ZNPP; this means it can function for now, but as soon as anything breaks or needs repairs, things will get very dicey, very fast, and potentially result in Chernobyl 2.0.

It'll never happen of course, but having third party peacekeepers at a site like a nuclear power plant to keep the peace around it would be a sensible idea. And the IAEA and whatever can do whatever to ensure the whole thing doesn't like... meltdown or get blown up, even a little bit.

The move slowed down the Ukrainain counter offensive and bought the russians weeks worth of time. It might have been worth it to them.
I don't think it really slowed the counter-offensive on it's own, as the offensive was always going to be a grind (the idea it'd be a repeat of Kharkiv was fanciful at best), and the idea of a major crossing near Kherson was...an option, but one of the lower end options for Ukraine compared to punching south overland from Zaphorizia(?) toward Melitpol and the Sea of Azov.

Blowing the dam was more scorched earth to fuck Ukraine for decades agriculturally and economically, with any defensive aims/effects being secondary I expect.

Ukraine cant even make it to the first real line of defense.

You think they are going to cross miles of muddy fields to break through with no air cover, against an enemy that outnumbers them, commands the skies, has artillery dominance and has line after line of prepared defense?

Let me know how that goes. Oh wait, dont bother, we just saw.

Is your second question meant to be literal or rhetorical/satirical lol?
I am being literal.

Oh well again, its not going to happen but the biggest contributors to UN Peacekeeping are countries like India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal, Fiji, Uruguay and whatnot. And I'm assuming static security of a modern facility with IAEA assistance would be a lot more clear to mandate a mission for then navigating the nebulous warzones they usually have to deal with.

Glancing at the IAEA wiki, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Fiji, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan and maybe Thailand and Vietnam all all local signatories to the regional IAEA and have deployed peackeepers before and AFAIK aren't strongly aligned with one side or the other in an official capacity. Combined with the IAEA and local civilian workforce already in place, that should help cool any worries about malfeasance or bias coming from peacekeepers who would just be there to ensure the physical security of the location.

What is the differance between yellow and green? Like where would medical supplies fall under?
Yellow is "non-material military aid"... which sounds like it means "did not actually send any stuff"
just look up the specific countries exact contribution.
For example, the big yellow country in south america is columbia.

It did not send stuff, it sent people.
Specifically, columbia sent military engineers with a specialization in landmines to train ukranians in the removal of landmines

Time was when the country whose military had loads of expertise in clearing Soviet-type landmines was South Africa.
But that was back then... :-(

Oh ok so medical supplies would fall under green?

How many Bakhmut's worth of territory have they taken in the last couple of weeks?

lol. There is big difference between an uninhabited flat buffer zone where Russia is conducting a flexible defense and Bakhmut, an extremely heavily fortified and strategically important urban area the Ukrainian military defended to the death.
