Egypt is Semitic, not Sub-Saharan African. People who claim the Egyptian Old Kingdom as an "African" (ie Negro) civilization are blowing bubbles just as much as the people try to claim the Phonecian colony of Carthage as one.
Even the Ethiopians are descended from peoples who earlier lived to the north of there.
Treating conquered peoples as slaves was something that all the ancient civilizations took for granted (Rome, for example) right up until the 18th century. That was when the Abolitionists first showed up. How we now regard the whole concept is a measure of their success.

Civiliation literally means "cities and farming" by definition.
Nomadic tribes of hunter gatherers are by definition not a civilization. They have culture, not a civilization.
However, there were in fact countries with cities and farming in africa. Yes, some places had wandering tribes of hunter gatherers. But other places had actual civilization

Lots and lots of the ordinary Russian people died under Communism, but enough survived that we can still talk of Russia and Russians.
They certainly had - and have - seasonal farming. And settled villages. "Cities" might be pushing it. But no, they were not lawless hyper-individualists. A Bantu tribe has a chief, and laws and customs, and so on.

There's this huge debate as to whether Ancient Egyptians were even Black, they may have been White/Hellenistic, but the bottom line is nobody really knows, Egypt is EXTREMELY against being lumped in with the rest of Africa it seems

There is a video on the fucking internet of at least one instance, the soldier involved was even later identified due to him taking part in interviews.
1: Strongman mentality. It makes them look strong and induces fear.
2: They use the same tactics to discipline their own troops.
3: It contributes to their policy of extermination of the Ukrainian ethnic group. Straight out of Stalin's playbook, and the Tzars before him. Interestingly enough also a widespread practice for eugenics proponents in the late 19th, early 20th Century. They even practiced forced sterilization in the USA for ethnic minorites and Whites with disabilities.
