I know a fair number of devout muslims. They generally don't care if I or other non-muslims consume something "haram" as long as it's not offered to them with the expectation that they also partake.

This is a tactic that can only be used by people who don't understand how to actually live and thrive as a minority group in a country.

When they first got independence they actually really tried very hard to accomidate the islamic minority they tried to be fair. Over 70 years later you have anti islamic pogroms because the hindus one of the nicest religions in the world got tired of their shit. The west? Not nearly as nice, and if they keep up that bull shit it wont matter what some blue haired moron says the same will happen to them.
You want to survive as a minority group here are the rules.
1. Respect the laws of the country your in.
2. Respect local cultures and customs.
3. You can add cultural things but never ever try to take away from the dominate culture.
4. If you protect your trash you will be judged by it. Disavow any one in your community who goes full psycho and or retard.
5. Make friends with the locals
If your respectful of the greater community thats going to help your long term survival a hell of a lot more then acting like an ass.

This is why old mr. Cohen, back in the day, found plenty of people willing to shelter his family. And after the war, when he had to rebuild his shop from nothing, the people in the neighbourhood helped him in the way that they knew wouldn't rob him of his dignity-- not with hand-outs, but by being deliberately frequent customers.
Which is why his son could soon thereafter take over the shop, and later give my teenage father -- a Catholic boy -- his first job.
Compare that to fourth-generation Moroccans who revel in still not speaking Dutch properly, despise their host country but live on welfare, are overwhelmingly (>85%) involved in some form of crime, and these days tend to gather every week to wreck public property in "solidarity protests"... where they chant about how Jews must be gassed.
I've never seen Jews smashing shop windows, looting, burning tires in the strees, or throwing bricks at the police. Haven't noticed the Hindus or the Buddists doing that, either. It's always the muslims, the commies and the (actual) neo-nazis who do that kind of thing. Almost like those ideologies represent bad ideas...
But we're not allowed to say that (except about the nazis), because calling ideologies bad is obviously racist. Unlike yelling that Jews should be gassed, which is -- obviously -- righteous and, eh... anti-colonial. Or something.

In a way, I’d almost prefer the Muslims over the liberal Jews (and liberals who spread bad behavior in general) because at least there’s a good chance they’ll be more honest about it by actually attacking you openly and not by lawfare and hypocrisy.
