There is also the fact that many activist communities have what they call a 'sword/shield' grift going on.
One group comes in wielding a 'sword' to wreck/impede things for the sake of impeding them to hold to some ideology and threaten people (usually just with legal action), and another group with the same goals will come in as a 'shield' that offers gentler/less intrusive methods that end up with effectively the same result as the original group wanted.
The activists use both types in tandem for pressure campaigns for/against things, while making it seem like the two groups have no coordination.
The environmentalist/radical greens use this a lot, and will even admit as much if they feel they are in 'safe' zones where no one with different politics could overhear them and out the game.
