Maybe initially, but just because coalitions form doesn't necessarily mean they last.
In fact, I'd hardly be surprised if the Populist leader you foresee goes from an American Khomeini who "merely" wants to exterminate Jews and Muslims while sparing everyone else, to the full-blown Führer of the West who escalates the purging and scourging far beyond what he promised initially. So, exterminating the Swiss for being "Banker swines!" or Holodomor-ing France on the basis of it being "Jacobin country!", for instance? Yeah, those don't sound impossible to me — much as I wish I could honestly believe otherwise. 😔
