Libertarianism does not mean libertinism. It means leaving libertines alone, and being left alone by them (by force if necessary). Sure, you can inject yourself with heroin with your purchased drugs. Doesn't make it my problem. (In b4 someone says but what about the public park getting wrecked: what public park? Privatize everything, have a charity run it with rules.)

So it's nice that someone can do this. You also don't have to be involved with it. Personally, I hate using drugs, even marijuana. I barely ever even drink. Why? Because I hate not feeling in control of myself. But that's me. I don't care about other people doing it, that's their business, and it isn't my business.

I know full well Libertarian doesn’t equate to libertine, and that’s just fine. In fact, my interest stems from a general observation that using force to get your way has caused much of mankind’s misery throughout the ages, as well as whatever inconsistencies in Statist reasoning you care to name.

However, it’s also not a crime for me to point out that I find combining guns and bongs into one device weird, either. Maybe I could’ve been clearer that I was voicing a personal opinion instead of a political one, but really, I don’t think your lecture on what Libertarianism is and isn’t was all that called for.

Eh, you’re good. As I said, I could’ve been clearer, so that’s partially on me.

But all in all, I’m of the opinion that if we traded voluntarily and left each other in peace otherwise, so many of the wars, genocides, imperialism, political infighting, and bureaucratic incompetence we’ve seen throughout history — many of which have brought down entire empires, which were also admittedly built on enslavement and brutal coercion of the unwilling — could’ve been avoided. Obviously, I’m guessing you’ll agree with me there, though sadly, I have my doubts that the vast majority of people ever will.

The militarization of the police is a required step to a authoritarian state. A cop who is a human being with a family and friends is far less likely to serve a no knock kidnapping of a political dissident.
