I don't know if this could be considered a meme but an Iranian girl said to this friend of mine, also an Iranian girl, and she said I looked gay because I dress flamboyantly (I used tons of stuff with prints, including jeans) and when this friend of mine told I surely wasn't, she said "Maybe he doesn't know !". We laughed our asses off because me and this friend had kissed previously and other things a gentleman shouldn't say :p

I would like to hear more about this in an organic manner as opposed to just searching Wikipedia. :p
Budyonny was one of the five Marshals of the USSR, and a pal of Stalin. He informed on the other Marshals, and actively wrote memos calling for them to be executed as traitors, during the purges. Then when the secret police came for him, he pointed a revolver at the agents, called Stalin, and demanded that Stalin call off the investigation. Stalin complied.

Long story short: Budyonny was a ruthless fucker who stabbed others in the back and got away with it because he was pals with an even more ruthless fucker.

Got the message, but even leaving that aside, my understanding is that the IRS is one of the least-liked, least-trusted US government agencies?

If so, probably for good reason, though what’s sad is that doesn’t reduce its actual authority or power to ruin the lives of everyday Americans. :(
It honestly is a ton less worse than many other departments, like the CIA, FBI, ATF, or worst of all, the Fed. If you want any sort of federal government, you need theft (called taxation) to happen, and that's someone's job. Is it politically biased? Yes, but so are all the other ones too. It's more about taxation being magically not theft for me because government does it.

If we're measuring which government agency is objectively the worst, then yeah, sounds fair. Mostly, I was asking about which ones have the worst reputation among the general population; since the IRS has more visible interaction with everyday Americans, perhaps that'd explain why.

Otherwise, I'm tempted to agree. Have flirted with Libertarianism before, as you know, and while I wouldn't say I've bought into the Gospel of Rothbard just yet, I find it a bit odd how people agree you don't owe someone anything in return if they voluntarily gave you something without you asking first, but when government does it, it becomes "Giving back!" or "Doing your civic duty!" — even when they never asked you if you wanted what they were selling in the first place, and actively coerced you into buying it in exchange for your time, money, obedience, even your very life via conscription.

No, no, see, it's a racket, because that's a nice house you got there. Be a shame if something happened to it. :sneaky:

Not sure if it's "political", per se, but just to be safe again:

From what you Murikhans usually tell me being shaken down by the Mafia for protection money sounds like a more enjoyable and more beneficial experience.Especially since the mob actually made sure it's areas were kept secure and no one harassed their sources of money.
You pay taxes too.

That's more state tax departments and towns, actually. They've a new idea of "Behind on your property tax? We'll seize your house and sell it to pay them off." Oh, and also keep the difference as well. So what that we sold your house for a few 100k and your taxes were only 10k? we get everything.

Yeah, isolated instances aside, I can't think of any truly tax-free, anarchist settlements that exist right now. Few I can think of that have long ceased to be, though as of right now, moving to the Republic of Cospaia or Neutral Moresnet are no longer options. 😕

Pretty startling if true, though I don't suppose you have any examples of this? Vaguely recall Reason and John Stossel documenting similar cases back in the day, but maybe you've found some others that I haven't come across yet, hence my question.

You pay taxes too.
After I started my own contracting biz my accountant fills out my tax statement and Inpay a flat 15% on profits.
I just have to go to the local NRA office and five the my Company ID, then swipe the company debit card.It usually takes me no more than 10 minutes but every time I do that I feel like I am dying inside.
Previously all taxes and welfare contributions and the like I had to pay were auto-deducted from my salary.
Much, much easier.

The difference between a legitimate government and organized crime is actually pretty small.

The most governments are guilty of their own anti-mobster crimes, but aren't because mobs are criminal enterprises. blah blah blah.

Corruption and graft. Legbreakers galore. Punishments for not adhering to the rules.

Yeah.
