Well, ten-second Google/Yandex search says it is... 🤪 but I had actually seen people do similar shit in live.

*Has a drawn-out chuckling fit.*

Seriously, though, the joke ROB’s been playing over the past decade is no longer funny. Let’s move on and get back to our lives before it blows up in our face. (Me, sarcastic? Nah, dude, you’re reading too much into it! :cautious:)

Well, in Croatia we actually had a "chin mask" meme going for a while, where people would go with face masks everywhere... except they wouldn't cover nose and the mouth. So, chin mask.

Funnily, it died out after they stopped the mandatory mask mandate...

The George Floyd Gabriel Bell Riots.

Okay not quite but that was too good to pass up. They were caused by housing market and food supply chain disasters.

...

I need a drink.

Huh; looks like they weren’t too far off about rioting en masse, San Fran as a shit-hole, or the 2020s being a turbulent decade. Sure, they still got the exact details wrong (and the writers weren’t serious about predicting the future, anyway), but for the time it was written? Not bad, though in some ways, it looks like our 2024 could end up being crazier than theirs!

Not a meme, but what the hell...
No lies detected.

He correctly identifies "modern capitalism", as distinguished from the small-government, very free market situation that existed as a near-universal norm before Modernity, and which was indeed so "normal" that it didn't even need a name or an "ism" to be identified.

Unfortunately, many people who see the problems with modern megacorps then just turn to the mirage of some "third way economics" -- never once realising that this just strings them along in the same web of materialism (and the false solutions and utopias that it promises).

I think we live in an era of hubrius and imagine human beings to be far more capable then they are.
