To be fair, Africa has a scary amount of potential, if the institutions were fixed corruption lowered it could really become something special.

I mean, sure it has a lot of pop, a lot of minerals, but plenty of countries have done well with neither of those. You would have to basically gut the entire culture and build it back up from scratch, which is never going to happen so long as they are on this current bent, South Africa has pretty much proved that, time and time again.

Conservatives have lost or are losing on:
- immigration / right to ethnic existence (civic nationalism has replaced ethnic nationalism / ethnic subsidiarity)
- national sovereignity (power of supranational entities had been steadily increasing since 1945)
- sexual issues (first homosexuality was decriminalized, now we are looking at a push to decriminalize pedophilia)
- self-defense issues (regulation of the right to own firearms etc.)
- speech regulation (everything that Right dislikes is legal, everything that Left dislikes is illegal)
- and probably a dozen other things I am forgetting

In large part because they allow the Left to set the terms of the discussion, but also because they allowed the Left to take the institutional power, starting with the educational system and continuing through with the media.

There's certainly been retreat on some of these, but the meme I was responding to, was about surrendering the position.

Which conservatives in America have not done. You can argue we've been fighting a losing battle, but we have been fighting.

The one thing Conservatives have definitely failed on, is fighting the culture war within the entertainment industry, and given I'm a professional writer of sci-fi and fantasy, that's a lack that I'm personally trying to help make up for.

I'd say that he was correct on the Leftist infiltration of the establishment, but he misidentified the main threat: it were not Soviets, but the homemade banksters, who were most active in promotion of Marxism.

Self defense issues the right is winning. As for speech, no, it's legal for both sides to talk, despite attempts to limit from both sides.

And you are even wronger here. McCarthy was a drunk liar who started with stolen Valor, then continued by being the most useful idiot to the USSR ever. He had no idea who was or wasn't a communist, he just knew there were a bunch in the State Department, like everyone else did. The trouble was knowing who was who.

No, it is not legal. In Europe, you need a permit to own a gun. And even in the US, administration is pushing for increased gun control.

Civic nationalism is an inherently leftist value, because it is based on the idea of equality: everybody can be a member of a country as long as he swears to the flag.
