Actually, IIRC, NASA is one of those places where the US said "Metric precision is more useful" so they've been using Metric since around that time conversion error caused issues.

Yes, long after they landed men on the moon (which no one else has done yet, which is part of the joke). Incidentally, the only reason there was a problem is because they were working with another agency that was from another country that used SI.
