I can't believe how half the media thinks Trump is responsible for every bad thing and the other half thinks he's responsible for none. Whatever happened to media as the fourth estate?

The media at large has been hardline leftist activists since TV media started, and most newspapers too.
It wasn't until Rush Limbaugh in the late 80's and Fox News in the late 90's that their near-total lock on broadcast news media was broken down.
That you're surprised that all news sources are partisan really says something about your level of awareness.

You can absolutely be surprised by a fact that you know to be a fact. For example, I am still surprised people believe in socialism or flat earth- and I've known about those types of people since I was, what, 12? 13?
A partisan media destroys the entire point of media. Media shouldn't be taking sides, except if that side is the truth. There should be laws barring the media from reporting lies, or even manipulating the truth.

On the off chance this is serious, politicians and the bureaucrats who would enforce such a law are, by no means or manners, more trustworthy than journalists. They may be the only two categories less deserving of trust, even--both because of the damage they could do and the best manner of preventing that damage the prevention of such authority in their hands.
Yeah, there absolutely should NEVER be laws like that, because as you can see on social media after covid: there are people who decide what's true or false, and they may have an ideological bend.
There is NO WAY to enforce that law while also ensuring people have freedom of speech, and freedom to be wrong. It WILL be taken over by an ideology and next thing you know, there's no allowance for dissenting viewpoints.
This might be one of your shittiest takes so far, and goes against the very framework of our nation and society.

American media had always been partisan until the period of the radio/broadcast TV oligopoly. Newspapers traditionally were open about party affiliation, and it was fine back when every city had at least 2 of opposite party.
The media pretending for a few decades to be nonpartisan just allowed the left to completely take over. And in the end stage, become fully an extension of the DNC.
