Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

Rubio was too polite. Even giving the nuttiness the most sympathetic treatment, there are a myriad of things one might point to for the rise of the Nazi party. The robust and proactive free speech of the Weimar Republic isn't one of them. Largely because such didn't exist--as shown by their special laws for the 'protection of the republic' that banned speech and the association of people into or with extremist groups and established special courts for trial of those accused of such...The Nazi party and its newspaper prominent among the one most of Germany banned under the provisions of the law(s).

In point of fact, one of the things contributing to the rise of the nazis was the lack of free speech (though one might be hard-pressed to call it the most important one since...Weimar was a shitshow of colliding failure-states all at the same time).

This is wild, The hell is going on with airlines of late?

Recency bias, that's all.

Multiple groups have reasons to try to highlight any airline/aircraft accident right now, for political ideological reasons.

Some want to use it to say Trump is a problem due to supposedly, in actuality not really, gutting ATC/gov bureaucrat numbers.

Some want to try to scare people out of flying entirely, mostly for radical environmental reasons, and make air travel something reserved for the elite and military.

Also, very lucky this wasn't worse, seen those types of accidents go far, far worse. Seems like the landing gear failed on one side, the opposite wing still was generating lift, and it rolled the plane as it went down the runway.

This is wild, The hell is going on with airlines of late?

1. airplane builders have been hiring people based on their genitals and skin color for many years. people have been sounding the alarm for a while and were told to shut up. its gotten really really bad. boeings are completely unsafe right now.

2. airlines have been hiring pilots and mechanics based on their genitals and skin color for many years.

3. air traffic control have been hiring based on genitals and skin color for many years.

turns out when you stop hiring competent people and hire people for their genitals, skin colors, and which orfice they like sticking things into... then people die.

Also, the video you linked is from that propaganda rag CNN so naturally they start blaming trump because he fired the probationary DEI hires. they claim there is a shortage of radar operators so we really need to keep all those new untrained DEI hires

New development:
The airline was bragging about "unmanned flights". A pun about how they are dedicated to 100% all female crew and pilots without a single male employee on board.

The thing that really gets me with that lower picture, is how *young* the Pilot and Copilot are.

The older woman in the back is a stewardess, not the pilot. The woman with the pilots shoulder-epaulets on the left looks like she's definitely not out of her 20's, the one on the right is anywhere from late 20's to maybe late 30's?

I'm used to seeing pilots with gray hair. Most airline pilots, to my understanding, are former military pilots who wanted to keep flying when they got out of the service, and the airlines don't then have to pay to get trained.

Maybe the woman on the right took that route, but the one on the left definitely looks too young for that.

Eh, most pilots arnt military, mainly due to the fact it takes 8 to 10 years mandatory of rough shit.
My buddy is a pilot fir delta and started worh endeavor.
He was Reserves as an MP officer not as a pilot.
He isn't even 30 yet

While former military is common, it is not that common. What should be expected from a big airline pilot is decades of experience, and the copilot having only years of experience.

Most of the commercial pilots used to be former military, but with the end of the Cold War the air forces shrank, while commercial aviation expanded. Since most of the airlines also got rid of their of their own pilot schools and training programs, most of the new airline pilots these days are guys who took decades worth of debt to get into the cockpit. So to be airline pilot these days you are either former air force (15%) , debt slave (80%) or came through some kind of DEI program (5%).
The captain seems to me be a bit young to be the main pilot, so I reckon it is DEI, though it could be that airline in question has lower flight hour requirements in general, albeit their propaganda about unmanned flights make me think they disregard experience and competence in favour of gender politics.

Is that the confirmed pilot?

And most pilots arnt debt slaves.
Most now just spend most of thier career training before becoming first officer

You think that training is for free? This is not army, pilots in commercial aviation have to pay training out of their own pocket and simulator hours are expensive, clawing one's way out of debt takes decades.
Most become pilot instructors to help pay for it, that is what my buddy and most of his fellow pilots have done

I don't think these were the exact pilots in that specific flight.
Rather, those are sample tweets from the airline and their policy of "unmanned flights".
There are some more sample pics in the article I linked too.
