Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

I have to admit that I'm pretty curious as to what was "hacked" exactly to prevent these plants from being able to run.
I'm curious as well. I'd guess it would depend on what automation they've implemented, and what policies they have at their plant.

I know that a number of businesses have an online inventory, and the one I've been working at cannot ship anything if the inventory system is down. It has to do something with the payment processing being linked to the inventory, so we wouldn't get payed if we shipped without the electronic verification. So if the system goes down, we suddenly have a bottleneck. (We're technically not supposed to do any movement of our inventory when it's down, but our managers are sane so they let us prep and build and just manually correct the system later)

And that's just one online system. If a meat processing plant has a climate control system that's monitored or controlled online, then a hack could really screw them over.

Theyre automated for one. Any number of critical systems could be compromised.

Two, it's pretty standard in a lot of places that once you realize you're compromised, you shut everything down And bring it back on slowly one bit at a time as you confirm it's clean and not compromised.

So likely what happens is they realize they're hacked and shut down all operations to clean up the mess.

So take a look at this hot garbage!

The enraging irony of Republicans demonizing Muslims while defending Capitol rioters

You can tell by the start of the third paragraph that this journalist has some bias but really I think we can add idiots to the mix.

How does one equate the understandable outrage of almost 3,000 innocent people dying in the September Attacks with the storming of the capital building in which only five people died and only one was the result of direct human intent?

Even if you automatically accept the most demonizing and outrageous of the left's claims at face value about the Capital Riots the shear scale of disparity between the two events is beyond 'well' outrageous!

They've been calling us racists and terrorists for years now. They were calling us terrorists while they burned down the cities.

This is no surprise to me. They're making us the enemy. And I don't mean political enemy. I mean the kind of enemy you kill.

They are equating us to AQ, the Taliban, Nazis.

And it's not just the fringe doing this either. This rhetoric is mainstream.

Things are going to start popping off in this country. It's going to get ugly.

She’s saying the January 6th protest was worse than 9/11.

I second Duke Nukem’s statement. She is a stupid bitch.
Keep in mind; like most politicians, she's a narcissistic sociopath utterly incapable of empathy. September 11th means about as much to her as December 7th. The only reason January 6th is important, is because it's politically useful as a casus belli to attack her enemies.

Brian Stelter (and AP News) has found a terrible take on the 20th Anniversary of September 11th.

Thank goodness for News Anchors, our "National Leaders" and "Moral Authority" twenty years ago apparently, said no one ever until now.

The fact that their this far up their own ass is why I think their going to lose.

Any time you get a leadership class this arrogant and blind they essentally fuck up until they lose power.

Of course. The issue is how many people they will kill/ruin/starve/unperson/put in camps until they are stopped.

And with today's technology I imagine they can last quite a bit longer than any of us would want.

Why? Because it was YOU who was in danger, rather than some random proles?

Seriously, politicians and their egos....either that or she's just catering to the crowd. Considering this is Twitter, likely the latter. You don't get far in Yankee politics without being a duplicitous little snake.
It's been pointed out that this is part of a massive coordinated effort.

The news media and blue checks are all pushing this narrative.

Anyone who's paying attention should be terrified. They're priming the public to be ready for the atrocities they're going to commit.

Of course they are. After all, they got their nose bloodied by the Taliban. In order to salvage their hurt pride, they have to lash out at an easier target, and the Right is that target. They are cowards and bullies.

It goes further than that, when Trump was elected, the swamp decided that something like that must not be allowed to happen ever again and the proles that made it happen must be crushed utterly. So with the Reichstag fire Capitol protests, they got the excuse to usher a never ending war on domestic terrorism, to oppress the proles and drive them into extinction.

this will of course back fire and just ensure a larger, more powerful and now deeply angry populist uprising against them.

OK, so, I rare if ever will do this, but there is some (and by some, I mean miniscule amount) of truth in the idea that the Jan 6th Riot and the attack on 9/11 were similar. Not in effect or in lives lost, but a lot of people forget that the 9/11 attacks were chosen for their symbolism, not for the amount of damage they would cause.

The World Trade Center, the Pentagon, the US Capital - those are the targets of the hijacked planes on 9/11. Two were hit, while one survived because common everyday flyover Americans said ENOUGH. But they were chosen for their symbolic value, they represent the three legs upon which American Empire and Power stand: Economic Power, Military Power, and Governmental Power*.

As such, the 9/11 attacks were specifically meant to symbolically destroy and attack those three things. Interestingly, from a symbolic standpoint, they systemically failed in some respects, but planted the seeds of the destruction of two of the three.

You see, the US economy has always been robust, and while destroying the World Trade Center was a blow, nobody ever thinks of the US economy as being indestructible. We had all grown up with stories of the Great Depression and the Stagflation of the 70s, so the destruction of the World Trade Center, in many ways, fits into the long narrative of the US Economy, it's destruction noteworthy, but in many ways just a part of the rises and falls that make the economic history of the US so grand. Thus the attack failed to harm confidence in the idea of the American Economy because, well, nobody expects the US Economy to be Invincible.

The strike on the Pentagon also symbolically failed because it became a farce. The plane hit
a section of the building that had been undergoing renovations for the past few months and so was basically unused. Those that died in the strike were mostly contractors and workers who were doing building renovation. The strike put a scar on the building, but didn't inhibit actual business of the Pentagon... the Pentagon itself as a structure was simply to large and strong to be so negatively impacted by the strike. Thus what looked initially like a strong symbolic blow against the US Military turned into a joke.

As to the third, that blow never landed. The potentially very potent symbol of America's House burning, the Rotunda Shattered by an enemy, an act unheard of in US History... failed. Failed because common Americans stood up and wrested control of the plane from the enemy, sacrificing themselves to protect others. Instead what was meant to be a powerful attack against the ideal of the strength of American Government turned into a message of hope for Americans and a symbol of the ability of the common American to overcome evil, and in a way, because of what that flight was meant to attack, it became the symbol of the common American defending the Institutional America.

However, this did seed fear into America, and the Institutions took that Fear and used it to entrench a military-intelligence complex within the government the likes of which we'd not seen since WW2. The invasion of Afghanistan, initially one supported by all Americans and easily accomplished... stretched into a fiasco. The Intelligent apparatus of the US, initially formed to try and counter outside terror plots, got turned more and more on the common Americans who were not liking how the Institutions were using the power given them.

This all culminated in the 1/6 Riot. Here's the thing, the people gathered on 1/6 were the "Common Americans" the "Flyover Americans", the type of Americans who, on 9/11, literally sacrificed their lives to PROTECT this building. Others had attacked the Capital before, but they were never "Common Americans", they were leftwing extremists whom nobody would confuse with the average American (IE the bombing of the US Capital in the 80s, which is often brought up, was performed by a far left Puerto Rican independence group... people whom nobody would confuse with being core constituents of America). No, these were the same type and kind of Americans whom 20 years earlier had laid down their lives to protect the capital, now attacking it, in much the same way as they had saved it, haphazardly, without a plan, reacting to circumstances.

Thus 1/6 is a symbol of one of the most potent losses of the War on Terror: the loyalty and trust of the American People. This is why to so many in media and government 1/6 is worse than 9/11. 9/11 was an outside group attacking the US. 1/6 was those people the government is supposed to serve indicating they have lost faith in the government. It is a terrifying thing for them to behold. It represents a symbolic loss of legitimacy that has not been faced by the government in modern times. It means that they can no longer take for granted the trust and support of the common American, which is why they are flailing in their response to it and lashing out. They don't know how to fix it, for all they know how to do is exercise power, not actually win trust.

This is where this idea that 1/6 is akin to 9/11 his its roots. It is not in the type of attack, or the number of lives lost, but in the symbolic nature of the event. What they so fail to realize is that so many in the US understand there is a difference between being attack by an outside enemy as al-Qaida was, and the nature of what happened on 1/6. When American citizens lash out at the government, they do not deserve to be treated as enemies of America, and the more the government does so the more illegitimate it is going to look to others.

* Note, by this I don't mean the level of control or influence the US Government has, but the Power of the IDEAL of the US Government. A government that has since 1776 seen continual stable governance, continued peaceful transitions of power, and representative democracy.

I think it's important to note that all of the above is reasonable and true, from a certain point of view.

However what happened on 1/6 was also a something that has shown to have been riddled with agent provocateurs from Antifa, along with some actual Far-Right fringe nuts from groups like Fuentes's jackass's. Actual Trump supporters mostly got caught up in it, rather than being part of what set it off or escalated it. A hurricane of stupidity and malice across the political spectrum formed on 1/6, and a lot of people got caught up in it because events outpaced anyone's ability to control for a time.

As well, do not forget the media and elite are secretly, or not so secretly, happy it happened because it gave them their Reichstag Fire to use to aim the War on Terror back to the US and against the political Right.

What happened on 1/6 is only comparable to 9/11 because of a bunch of assholes decided to ignore Trump saying to protest and make their voices heard peacefully, multiple times, before he was banned from most social media platforms in a matter of hours. All while Pence, the arch-traitor here, helped seal the deal on the stolen election, because he had been sabotaging Trump from nearly the get go it seems.

Also, 9/11 wasn't an inside job, despite what some loons say. 1/6 definitely was, as we've seen in the mounting evidence that's been found, and it wasn't just one actor responsible for the events either; agents on both the Left and Right (Antifa and Fuentes's jackasses) tried to rile up the crowd the night before, and were part of the groups that first started breaking down barricades and assaulting officers who tried to stop them.

1/6 is comparable to 9/11 because they need the powers in DC need that connection to justify some of the things they've done in the last few months as well as what it wants to do going forward, and to retro-actively justify things done against Trump under his admin, more than because of even the symbolic damage it did.

What atrocities? Being even more annoying on Tumblr? Or do even these clowns terrify you now?

In the old days, we used to fight communist geurillas with guns. Now are we going to shiver and cry over old men and women on twitter? Is that what we have been reduced to?
