Ongoing situation south of the border, the capture/arrest of El Chapo's son has led to a massive battle between the Mexican army and cartel sicarios. Fixed wing air support has already been called, and planes attempting to land or leave are taking fire from .50 cal rifles during approach or take-off.

That's one niche use scenario for Hinds...
And for A-10's.

Roadblocks have gone up as well, seems like the cartels are going to lock the city down till they get El Chapo's son back.

Geez! 😮

Not sure how well-armed the Mexican Armed Forces are, but the cartels must have some potent weaponry at their disposal to tussle with them.

I do...not 'like' but I'm not sure what the appropriate word here is...I do notice that there's a very common, massive glaring intentional-ignorance or deliberate eye-aversion by Americans to the ongoing civil war in Mexico and the large portions of the country where that civil war has been handily won by cartels.

No one not the us or mexico wants us involved in their business. The only way they do that big ask to have us come in publically is if things are terminally borked

If only we'd used the resources from the Forever War closer to home. If we're going to be the world police, the least we could have done was fix the problems outside our own front porch.

Course, that would have disrupted the drug plague and been completely counter to the globalists aims.
You are looking for issues where there aren't any. USA has plenty enough resources to do all that and more. The problem is purely political lack of will to deal with the problem and break through red tape. No amount of resources will help you if they don't get the order.
Not to mention that Mexican and cartel lobbies have way more influence in US politics themselves than Saddam or the Taliban ever had.

If we were told "Hey, tomorrow you are deploying to help destroy the cartels with the help of the Mexican military".
I'm sure plenty if us would gladly do it. Because it is easier for us to get there, and better weather then the middle east.
And more COIN warfare that our mikitary is adapted too.

If course our military would be way overwhelming of the cartels in a straight up fight like yesterday

Well that and everyone knows Mexican women are hotter then Arab women

Honestly, I suspect the only reason even the Mexicans have trouble is because of how top-to-bottom infiltrated, corrupted, and intimidated the system is by the cartels. American might aside, the simple fact of being an outside player they have no purchase on means they can't pull the same tricks.

But you might know better than I would if the Mexican army is so weak, or the cartels so strong, that they'd have a chance in a straight up fight without those advantages.

The Mexican military varies on unit to unit basis regarding quality and corruption. However there is a lot of info leaking from higher levels, and on political level there is enough corruption and useless socialists to keep the efforts against cartels rather... moderated.
This is also the reason why US forces aren't more present. The leftists on both sides of the border would absolutely hate the optics of it, especially if they were to be deployed effectively.

Honestly, I suspect that there is support of the cartels in the US from high level politicians and from the CIA and the like, either for fun and profit or to keep the "war on drugs" going.

they gotta get their drugs from somewhere.

If that’s true, then should we really trust the same government helping prop up these cartels in the first place to act in good faith when it deploys troops to Mexico to help crush them? Yeah, I’m not so sure we should.

Don’t trust a doctor whose advice helped cause Health Issue A in the first place to have a Treatment B that’ll work “Just fine this time — I promise!”, is what I’m saying. Because if Treatments B, C, D, and the rest keep causing new problems, one after another… then at some point, you need to stop seeing them and find someone else who’s both good and gives a shit about doing their job.

Plus, when they blow up at you--and they will, often...'latina temper' is a stereotype for a reason...it tends to be much more survivable thanks to the differences in firepower between a chancla and an IED.

Of course, that means you face repeated encounters with the chancla, whereas the explosion is a quick and easier death...

*Looks at Operation Fast & Furious*
*Looks at arming & training of special forces that became the Zeta cartel*

Look, just because we're supplying them with vaguely-deniable assets and assistance doesn't mean that we're...
...
Oh shit.
