Breaking News Large earthquake in Turkey/Syria.

The earthquake happened at 4.17 AM, when most people were still asleep, so in most collapsed buildings all occupants are under rubble. Worse, it's winter, so people who are still alive under rubble will mostly perish from hypothermia during the night.

They are working as fast as humans can, but many of these buildings are concrete, which are much harder to break through than brick buildings.

Not just that, but it was raining in a lot of the area when this happened, so people were wet and cold, not just cold, and there is real risks of landslides and such for a while.

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
Well the base we have just 124 miles from the epicenter is mostly intact so that's probably going to be a huge help for relief efforts. If nothing else a runway or two plus a fully online source of water, power, and medical help will be useful

Well, since people mention the Aleppo Citadel:

But yeah, condolences to the victims and prayers for the survivors to make the best recoveries possible. 🙏

Some crazy images from the Earthquake apparently.

Teams from Armenia and pictured here, Greece are also working in Turkey.

Ukraine is sending almost ninety rescuers in multiple planes as well.

Over seventy countries including Sweden, the Taliban in Afghanistan, and so forth are sending aid and/or rescue teams as well.

50% of buildings in Turkey were not up to the required earthquake codes due to shady 'building code exemptions' for seismic regulations, and just days before the quake legislation was put forward to widen that amnesty. Funds from 'earthquake taxes' were misused and fucked with for unrelated stuff as well. This may also impact the Turkish elections, if Erdogan fumbles the response.
