Apperently it was a 7.8 magnitude and have had many aftershocks.

Hell, a historical castle crumbled due to them

Very. Innocent people dying.
Natural disasters are always that.

So many buildings have collapsed due to this. So much footage of it as well

They got another 7.5/7.8 again this morning, aftershocks still happening, compromised buildings still collapsing.

The castle that crumbled was 2200 years old, dating to the Hittites, and that mean this quake is likely one of the most powerful in the region in over 2200 years.

Video of the first quake as it happened;t his thing shook for a long time.

Al Jazeera has a map on it. The epicenter of it does seem to be within Turkey but has definitely struck a lot of Northwestern Syria as well

Supposedly they felt shaking in the Gaza Strip for about 45 seconds, which tells you just how powerful this was.

Also, Italy has tsunami warning active.

Israel is going to be working in both Turkey, and for the first time Syria, to aid in quake relief. Assad actually asking Israel openly for help is surprising.

Edit:
People are going to be sleeping outside for a while in Turkey now, as no one is sure which buildings are still safe to be in.

Edit 2:

So the aid request came from Syria, not Assad directly.

Operation Olive Branch.

Israel will be initially sending a 150 person search & rescue team to Turkey per Turkeys request. Israel says they could set up a field hospital as well.

Israel might be willing to accept Syrians into Israeli Hospitals for treatment as well.

I hope everyone is able to get out of the area until it is safe.
I don't want people sleeping in thier homes when they could still fall

Shipping containers on fire in one of the Turkish ports due to the quake.

Also, the castle that collapsed was the Allepo Citadel itself. The thing survived every war in the region for 2200 years, and was used by huge numbers of rulers, and it took Mother NAture rending the Earth itself to break it's walls.

As I said I hope this doesn't turn into an Earthquake storm. Basically the stresses move along the fault-line as earthquake after earthquake occurs along the fault-line.
As I've heard it, the Anatolian Plate is grinding counter-clockwise against both the Eurasian Plate, and the African Plate, as is slowly moves westward.

So the whole area of Turkey is under constant stress from both slip-strike and subductive fault stresses.
