And that they are doing it like that, in this instance, shows maybe why they shouldn't have the power to do so.

The intel agencies and community serve themselves and their bureacracy, not the American people, who are often just more victims of their abuse or malfeasance.
No, but again, we both know how the argument goes.

And all I ak saying is that they can do the whole not release to public thing.

Why do we go on these long "WELL TECHNICALLY YES THEY SHPULDNT FOR THIS OR THAT"

Then maybe don't come in to knee jerk defend their ability to do shit like this, if you do not want this argument to come up again.

"I'm not bootlicking" he says as he goes above and beyond reasonable explanation of the situation and calls Snowden a traitor for calling out NSA unconstitutional spying.
Snowden did more then that. He also is a hack that knows nothing.

Sorry for trying to explain how things work. I guess when they say ignorance is Bliss, they mean it

Some secrets need to be kept for national safety, but many secrets are kept to protect careers, the pride's of certain groups, and to exercise power for power's sake.

The military and intel community no longer have the benefit of the doubt in their discernment of what to keep secret and what the public has a right to know.

In fact there is a good argument to be made that the intel community has decided it gets to control our politics and media as well, and has been acting against the interests of the US public for a while now.

Bacle.
Very few things are kept secret for protection of the government or pride.

But I am dropping this.

Sir 1000

Shitlord
Snowden is no hero.
Calling him such just praises the secrets he gave away to our enemies so he can have safe passage there.

And FOIA can be denied. Swamping can only do so much

All I am saying is they can do it
Not that they should, or what
Snowden would have to be suicidal not to look out for himself with our illegitimate and corrupt government, honestly you should be looking for the most damning stuff on our evil government and planning a vacation tbh.

Is that why the JFK files are still being delayed every time they are supposed to get released? I am sure they have some pressing NATIONAL SECURITY things on fucking 60 year old docs right? Or what about Epstein's case files? I am sure those are super important!

You cannot be this naive. For fucks sake.

So why the delays over the JFK files, or the Pentagon trying to deny vets treatment for Agent Orange/Agent Pruple exposure during Vietnam for years? Or how about all the files relating to the 'The Fast and the Furious' operation that gave cartels guns, or the times the CIA used the drug trade in the US to fund black ops, while also hurting demographics for political/racial reasons.

You also forget that the nice thing about classified stuff is that OSHA and the EPA cannot hassle groups over unsafe working conditions or egregious environmental pollution. I mean shit, half the reason Area 51 is so classified is because they've dumped so much toxic waste on the base during secret program, it was making soldiers and contractors sick without them being able to get compensation for it, because it was hidden behind a wall of classified stamps.

The US military has used 'classified' status to hide things that would cost careers and cause public uproars if it came out, and usually it is only when people decide 'fuck classified, justice/the Constitution is more important' that shit gets aired out.

You keep making the same sorts of arguments, then keep ducking out of them, because you still naively think people are not aware of a lot of the misdeeds and maleficence of the military and intel community.

That they are denying the videos to the defense team, and that the only way we even know any of this is because of a leak to Human Events, is a wonderful example of how the intel agencies see themselves as above the law and Constitutional processes.

Discussions of Snowden and government secret keeping is off topic for this thread and as per the earlier Mod post, to be dropped. A new thread can be created to discuss the topic if you wish, but keep this thread to be about the Rittenhouse trial.

Thank you... do not make me summon the Tal Shiar.

Not the first time you've said that, and yet you keep picking it up again at every opportunity.

Anyways, now that the Rittenhouse trial is finally underway, I think we're about to see whether or not there's anything left of our justice system. Because if Rittenhouse is convinced, it'll just further cement that there is no rule of law in this country anymore.

Not really. People get falsely convicted all the time. There quite simply has never a huge amount of justice in justice systems. Ever, in any country. But we have been slowly working at making it better over time by noticing problems and then trying to fix them.

This is just the one of the few examples of injustice that people on the right are noticing, but there are countless other examples.

The thing is, the American justice system, despite its many, many, flaws, is still better than almost any other existing option, as overall, it tends to lead to justice. Yes, the law is not some perfect shield against injustice, but do understand it is a tool against injustice nonetheless. The alternative is just getting slaughtered in the streets, according to the government's will.

So no, don't give up on justice because of one case in one state court. Instead, understand that this one case is but a symptom of larger criminal justice problems that need work.

The problem is this goes beyond our criminal justice system; it's just one battlefield in a war between Americans who love this country and want to better it, and "Americans" who hate it and want to see it destroyed. If Rittenhouse is convicted, it won't be because of what he did, or the deficiencies in our justice system; it'll be because our enemies have completly subverted it, and wish to make an example of him.
