High School, College and University Cringe MegaThread

PS : Elementary school cringe. In the class that they gave me to teach kids there was a list of names (not the class I teach) of the children.

SOMEONE THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO NAME HER DAUGHTER...

KHALEESI.

Like the character from Game of thrones series.
The one who becomes a child bride to a beastial barbarian warlord, which later becomes warlord herself. Plus all the details that I might know and really don't want.
I worked with someone who legally changed her name to that back in S2... yes they did a lot of meth... yes they were incredibly dumb... and annoying... and terrible to work with. I don't even know if she watched season 8 and regrets it or not.

I think what makes my Uncle's naming of his kids so very apropos for this thread is that he's a college professor somewhere in the... midwest? I forget and don't care to remember, not like he isn't a gigantic turbo asshole, his wife is a cunt, and I don't really like either of them. Which is saying something because my family is full of assholes.

Oh how much I understand you! (Though on the paternal side)

Galadriel gets a pass from me as it at least sounds like a normal name. So it’s not likely to be a source of embarrassment/teasing. At least not any more than some other normal names.
I got a nurse named Ariel (after the Disney character) last month.

That gets a pass from be because it's a Biblical boys name meaning "Lion of God" with origins going all the way back to Mesopotamia.

Oh I would have fun posting the names of my friends here but I am not yet in the financial position where I can risk doxxing myself.

EDIT : That's because one of my bosses know of my friends and they have VERY unique and quite recognizable names.

I have had these names come in on resumes:

Sherbet
Mercedes
Gucci
Laquisha
Quantikka
Jaxon
Jayson
Patrone
Hennessy

These are just off the top of my head
Mercedes is a Spanish female name, though(the car brand was named after a woman). The others, though... Laquisha is a name that makes me think of a crack whore. Quantikka makes me think of a rodent, Patrone is "cartridge" in German, IIRC. The others are just plain bad.

Yeah you still find some latinas that have.

Laquisha makes me think of the kind of tourist who is going to complained about being stared in Mediterranean countries or Bali.
Patrone is "cartridge" in German, IIRC. The others are just plain bad.
Patrone is a tequila brand.

Hennessy is a real name, the cognac is just named after Richard Hennessy, who founded the brand. That's like saying that Sir Alec Guinness has a bad name.

It is a family name. This is like having a Brazilian with 'Silva" as his first name. There are family names that can be first names and vice versa(as well as names that started as personal ones and now are family names only), but Hennessy(or Guinness, for that matter) sure don't look like that.
