This country is done.

Green Party rises to top of the polls. If federal elections were this weekend, we'd get a Green majority and chancellor.

I can't say it any other way: I fucking hate the majority of my countrymen.
So this is how the new incarnation of Nazis got into power: Put there willingly by the bleating masses of german npcs.

Well, given the fact that the CDU/CSU under Merkel has had no real agenda and no idea on what to do besides "keeping AfD at bay" it kind of makes sense that the Greens, as probably the "least objectionable" in terms of swing voters' preferences, have the plurality.

Of course, the biggest problem is proportional representation but that's another issue altogether...

Will certainly make for an interesting few years, that's for sure...

The little we’ve seen of Green getting elected to position of power in my country(Mostly as mayor) has shown that they are terrible, terrible people, with a barely hidden totalitarian bent that would make Stalin blush like a virgin.
So when I say he has my compassion, I truly meant it.

My understanding(correct me if I'm wrong) is that for the last 5 years at least, CDU/CSU's platform(other than the above-mentioned 'keep AfD out of power') isn't much different from the SPD's one - that is, a watered-down Green Party platmform. In that case, why not vote for the genuine article?

Also, I'd say that if the Greens get into power(maybe in a coalition with Die Linke?), AfD will be on its way to become the main opposition party.

That's assuming the Greens don't go full nazi stasi and put the high-ranking members into prisons under trumped-up charges.

This could be fortuitous, in some respects. The AFD are merely a percent or so off from polling equal or higher than the CDU and the other mainstream parties. As the German "centre" collapses and the German volk get a taste of real leftism in the Greens, the AFD could feast on the corpse of the establishment, and when after an election cycle or two the electorate come running to them, they'll have a good shot at power.

Silver linings and all.

Edit: Hang on, I got that a bit wrong. AFD are a fair bit off the CDU, but not far at all behind SPD and FPD.

Assuming there's anything left of Germany to take back, or that the Greens won't slant the system in their favor going forward....

Merkel's regime already tried that as far as I remember.
Not quite. The powers that be have however repeatedly tried to manipulate circumstances in a way that would either see the AfD being officially put under observation of state security for "working to undermine the constitutional order" (that's broadly the accusation here, which in and by itself is already so random it can be used against whatever they want). Which is a giant black mark and public relations fiasco for the AfD since it basically signals to everybody who isn't politically involved in one way or another (and that's the overall majority of people) that the AfD are bad news, are against the democratic order, and are basically on the same page as Nazis (since the only other case that has received media traction for the same accusations during the past 20 years was the neonazi NPD party).

I hate them because they'll make the situation for everybody else who's not a lunatic so much worse. I can only suggest for everbody to take a look at their electoral program. It's a nightmare bound to financially cripple the middle class, the economy, and lead to an irreversible flood of immigration that'll drive this country against the wall in five years or less.

As for the AfD: they have been their own biggest enemy ever since the 2017 election. They've continually been occupied by inner-party intrigues and fights between cliques, their handling of the media has been less than stellar, and they've thrown away much political capital by having official party members march along-side the more kooky members of the anti-corona-policy demonstrations of the past year. They had all the chances to build even greater support during Merkel's last term, but they primarily made headlines because of their inner-party witch hunt against the far right "Flügel" (literally "Wing") of the party centered around Björn Höcke and the largely successful Eastern state party leaders. Mind, I'not making a value judgement whether Höcke or Kalbitz or others there are secret Nazis or used to harbour these ideas in the past. At least with Kalbitz there's plenty of proof at least for the latter.

But on the other hand there's no place where the AfD was able to grow as strong and successful as the east, sometimes with more than 20% of the vote. And those in the party leadership from the western states have done a damn good job of pissing on these massive voter blocks, disregarding that they are a large part of why the AfD was able to surge into parliament in the way it did. Which turned away many that had voted for the party, and certainly was a factor in the party underperforming in the past two years. They are terrible in the way they represent themselves (for example the election posters they used in this spring's state elections looked like copycats of those the neonazi NPD used a few years ago), up to the point that even my wife, who's a hardcore democratic rightwing voter, eschewed them in this March's state elections.

And now they've set their election program for the federal elections in autumn and spiced it with such gems like "abolish the Euro" and "leave the European Union". Even if you were to agree with these in principle you'd need to be blind and deaf not to realize that these are untenable propositions in Germany right now. The party is tone-deaf, and can be happy if it manages to match its results from 2017. Personally, I beleive they'll be lucky to rise above 10% of the vote.

So, the Right is its own worst enemy once again? That's a real shame.

Seems like "your guys" haven't actually shown up yet. Are there any parties in Germany who look up to the task of rescuing their fatherland?

I must admit that the Right's inability to not fight among itself when party machinery and unity is required (this actually ended up screwing over the Dutch FVD as well), whilst failing to keep its hands off cooky conspiracy theories (likely down to their threat perception being in overdrive, and they just can't turn it off) is probably its greatest problem. Worst part is, I have a feeling that some more nationalistic policy (less immigration, quashing German guilt and maybe beefing up the Bundeswehr) wouldn't be unpopular. You just need the right people to push it, and it would seem the AFD aren't those guys.

We had similar problems in Britain for a long time, as the Nationalist Right frankly refused to escape Mosley's shadow and adopt a more sensible platform. This made them pretty much impotent for fifty years.

So Germany and France are in similar boats.
Thier right wing groups are shooting themselves in the foot.
France seems to be pulling thiers back into the light, La Pene seems to be one if the better choices running next year.

But the Germans...thier right seems to just be shooting themselves in the foot over and over.
Like that Over simplified meme of Hitler with a nerd gun.
If the greens take power.

Basically next year could be the change for France and the US that both need.
Of France elects La Pene and the US gets more red then things are on an uphill.
If they dont....
That is when things start to go down.
I don't know when Germany is doing thier elections next but

The same problem in Poland. We have many right-wing parties which ceased to exist or last any real power, becouse they fought themselves.
Ruling PIS are in reality socialist with central wing, but they start infighting, too. If they cease to exist...well,our leftist fought themselves even more,so maybe we would be saved by their incompetency in gaining power.

But Green in Germany are good in keeping power, and really could destroy their country. At least till turks take power.
But they would fight Kurds,so maybe rest of Europe would have peace.
I certainly not depend on current polish politicans to save anything.

Next year is when the global world wide credit crunch starts and no you can not avoid it because it is structurally built into the system.
