Put n most basic terms, the minister for finances Scholz is a sexist piece of shit who intends to take tax advances from common public interest clubs, but only if they are men's clubs like singing choirs or markmen's clubs. When asked if he intends to demand that female clubs admit men as members too, he freely admitted that these clubs won't lose their tax advances because of "pre-existing gender-related disadvances".

That politican deserves a boot to the ass, but unfortunately ministers are appointed by the parties and not by vote as far as I know.

Until the momma's boys and romantics get beat the fuck up when they go white knighting (or, at the very least, shunned and replaced) they will continue to do so. There is no consensus among females to defend male interests, and there should be no expectation of such, so these interests will not be defended unless men do so.

So my impression of German politics, is that most Germans don't want to have to care about politics.

They want to continue their lives and make money, and Merkle's appeal is a soft, "I will deal with all the political stuff, and won't force you to actually be concerned, Mama Merkle running this show".

And that is why Merkle has remained in charge for nearly twenty years now.

Merkel is a very shrewed politician when it comes to courting public opinion, her strategy was always to wait until she is certain of which course of action is most desired by her voting base and then moving in that direction. She also effectively removed everyone who could be her competition in the party, surrounding herself with mediocricies without personality, who could never threathen her position. She also avoided dealing with important issues that could invoke ire of the woters and instead just rode on on the wave of the good economic results that she wasn't responsible for, so she became synonymous with stability and prosperity, which enabled her to survive even her multikulti idiocy.

In essence, yes. She had help by the fact that the current political landscape of Germany is a nuclear wasteland with no clear successors to her, but her offer was "I do the stuff you don't wanna waste your time on, just trust me!"

Initially she did, but controversies and disstatisfication with her chancellorship caused her to state that she would retire from her post the coming election. You must understand that so far no chancellor in modern Germany's history save one retired from the post with grace. There has always been a scandal that caused the voters to turn on them.

I suspect German politics is going to get messy in the coming years, and they should count themselves lucky if they don't end up with another Hitler in charge. Merkel seems to have done everything she could to lay the groundwork for another such person to find a path to power.

The german economy is dependent on an international system that's about to end.

The post war Bretton woods system where America protects trade and every one can trade with every one else had two payments for the United states energy and a alliance against the soviet union.

The soviet unions gone and America's become energy independent so America now gets nothing in exchange for a huge expensive duty. Obama bought the EU 8 years where they could rebuild their economy to deal with the changes but you know...Eu.

So yeah its going to get really bad.
