Alright, some news from our favorite friends, the Green Party.

As they are on the fast track to win the chancellorship this autumn, their candidate Mrs. Annalena Baerbock (who has done nothing of value in her life, ie. only worked for the Greens since college and never held any executive positions whatsoever) has come forward with new ideas for policies once a green majority government holds the reigns.

Ban cheap and short-range flights, force house owners of new constructions to erect solar panels on their roofs.

So, short range flights (no definition of what that entails) shall be banned completely. Cheap flights (by discount carriers like RyanAir) shall be banned.

Of course, "Everybody can go to vacation where ever they want" (Baerbock stated), leaving out the fact that only her wealthy woke urban voters will then still have the funds to do so.

"People ought to take trains, it's unfair that a flight costs less than a long distance train ride", leaving out that there simply aren't enough trains and connections to go around, and that national and international transportation is a complex, interconnected network. Let alone the fact that it takes aeons longer by train than by plane.

Also, it will be mandated by law that new housing must have solar panels (probably of a sufficient, yet to be determined size and number), making the already expensive task of buying/building a house even more expensive (and thus, unachievable for an increasing amount of people).

All hail the Greens, who will be voted into power because the people electing them don't read their electoral programs, don't understand what it means for them, are utter morons, and a combination of all these.

Fuck the greens, and fuck all those who vote for them with a razorwire-wrapped broom handle...

Hey, eventually people learn.
Look at France. Thier people are growing more and more tired of Macron.
Your people will eventually grow tired of the greens. Or so we hope

It’s what the West sort of deserves for letting our education system rot out from under us, I’m sad to say. :(

Deserve? I doubt anyone deserves to have this inflicted upon them, especially when it's the result of our better nature being taken advantage of. I'm not sure it could have been foreseen just how farsighted and devoted to their cause the left would prove themselves to be.

there is just one small probem with solar power in germany.

Its not viable, why? because the sun doesnt shine in germany, yes this is hyperbole but seriously germany does not get enough sunshine to make it a viable powersource with todays technology. If you want to cut germanies carbon foot print then nuclear is the only way.

It doesn't matter if it's viable or not; what matters is if it fits with their ideology. If it does, you push it through no matter how little sense it makes to do so. If it doesn't? Well, that's what the showers will be for, if Germany keeps going down this path again.

I'd argue that it could have been and indeed should have been. But 'we' underestimated the left. 'We' got overconfident.

Sorta kinda. Solar doesn't really make sense in Germany as a large-scale power source. However, as a private addition to the energy mix I'm not against it. There are still plenty of regions in Germany that get a decent amount of sunshine across the year, and modern solar panels have become pretty effective compared to even ten years ago. Also, within the confines of the political shift towards EV-based mobility making sure that private citizens can load their vehicles at home, ideally without taking too much energy from the grid, is in principle a sound idea. Having a 9+ kw solar installation on your roof with a 11 or 15 kwh battery system isn't a bad setup under these circumstances. I'd have the same, were it not for the costs (and since we have a 70 year old house, I'm not sure if the roof actually could take it). In fact, I fully planned for it, but then it turned out the house needed a lot more work than was obvious on even the second look...

What bothers me is that it's supposed to be mandatory.

Do what one company planned to do. Set up wind turbines along roads to harness the wind caused by moving cars. That should help some.
...now I'm actually wondering how much power that would actually give. Probably not a whole lot, I'd think.

Bismarck statue needs to be contextualised

With critics calling for the head of the Otto von Bismarck statue in Hamburg, because of the founding chancellor's colonialist sins, city officials reportedly plan to enlist black artists to help “contextualize” the giant figure.
The German city is planning a contest to redesign the world's largest von Bismarck monument, which towers over Old Elbe Park above the port of Hamburg. The contest will involve four public workshops featuring artists and scientists, especially those from Africa

Hilariously enough Bismark didn't even really want colonies, he just gave in to progressive demands for them so they would shut up and not fuck up his plans for further german unification. And now the party thats the decendents of the party that wanted the colonies in the first place are pissed off at him for giving into their demands over a hundred years ago.
