You should take a look at the "Million Dollar Highway" (US 550 in SW Colorado between Silverton and Ourey). That's considered to be one of the most dangerous paved highways in world and is maintained to US highway standards:



The speed limit through Silverton, CO is 10mph lower than the default urban 35mph (with 45ish being where a cop decides to pull you over and cite you for speeding) when there's not a posted limit where I live.
