You should take a look at the "Million Dollar Highway" (US 550 in SW Colorado between Silverton and Ourey). That's considered to be one of the most dangerous paved highways in world and is maintained to US highway standards:THHe funny bit is that one government/people can fix such catastrophic damage in less than a year, while the other can't fix a single pot hole properly in over 25 years.

Also, by some of our standards that road is actually good, you should see some of the roads near my village, or even in parts of Sofia, which is the capital city,despite decades of EU finding for transportation infrastructure.
The speed limit through Silverton, CO is 10mph lower than the default urban 35mph (with 45ish being where a cop decides to pull you over and cite you for speeding) when there's not a posted limit where I live.
