Why are the bottom two spaces blank? If they’re a reference to something, then either I don’t know what it is or it was badly done.

Plus, shouldn’t the British Empire be somewhere in there? For one, they conquered the largest share of the world and spread the English language, culture, and Westernization in general farther and wider than anyone else, so I’d think they’d be in the running for the top spot there.
The last two are likely the British Empire followed by the US starting c1914, but those can't be included because pointing out the that the British Empire once covered 1/4 of the Earth's land and policed all the oceans or that less than a century ago the US alone had more industrial capacity than everyone else combined is not a good look today.

Yeah, but the other empires on the list are (obviously) guilty of imperialism, too. And considering how less historically literate meme-goers would ask why they're ranked as they are, I'd assume that pointing out how Tsarist Russia once had the largest contiguous land empire (sans the Mongols) wouldn't be a good look, either.

That, and it's a little weird to me how your post places the US having a fourth of the world's industrial capacity in the early twentieth century in the same category as British colonialism, though given how pointing that out would rile people of a certain political persuasion (read: the MAGA base) up, anyway, well...

Not one quarter. A little more than half c1945.

I think that the bottom two spaces are also a reference to the Spanish Empire. They simply didn't want to write "Spanish Empire" three times.

And Yeah, very good point about the British Empire not being there even though it should be!
