Havarti cheese is alright, I would say it is good on sandwiches, though have not had it very much.

Anyways speaking of food and drink more generally, I probably have the best proof of not being a Hipster...by liking something they claim to. I find kombucha to be enjoyable.

I consider myself a connoisseur of cheeses :p and would give a solid 'meh' to the Havarti variety. Likes its alright but nothing about it really screams out to distinguish it from a whole slew of other semi-soft/semi-hard cheeses. I'd rate Gouda cheese as superior in most respects.

Say, what do you think of Dubliner or Oka?

Havarti is very much a cheese meant to be partially melted on a pork sandwich, a role in which it excels, particularly when the sandwich has mustard on it. I can’t for the life of me think of another time I have used it, though.

I like to keep things simple. Beer and a good steak. For everyday (since steaks are expensive), something like shwarma or chicken will do.

All of those sound good, don't particular like beer, but some beers can be tasty to me. Prefer wine, and harder stuff like whiskey and scotch.

I'm the opposite of you. I really like beer for its taste, it usually doesn't matter whether cheap or more refined. Lager is good, wheat less so but depends on brand, stouts I generally avoid. Stuff like abbey beers and ales can be really awesome.

These days I very rarely drink hard drinks, mostly at social events where that's expected, and if I do I prefer either vodka or whiskey, and in small containers, smaller shot glasses and such (drinking whiskey from a glass seems like a kind of special torture to me).

Sounds reasonable, I usually go for a one drink maximum and then enjoy it slowly. Do it mostly for the taste.

I've never understood what people like about kombucha.

You know that gross juice from random foods that collects up at the bottom of trash cans? That's basically the same as kombucha.

Nasty rotten fermented trash water.

I've tried many varieties and I just can't take it. I like other fermented foods, but I just can't do kombucha.

As for foods I like, lately I've been playing around with sous vide. I've been making some outstanding steaks, and pork chops.

Father's Day soon here in Oz. Means whisky specials aplenty.

Any recommendations amongst folks here for some fine or particularly notable whiskies? :D

The best tea of course is Tea, Early Grey, Hot.
Begone, you and your hot tea alike. ;)

My favorite tea I can't even begin to type, let alone pronounce. It's a Vietnamese brand of Green Tea, fruity edition. It's best cold, but it can be drunk lukewarm as well. I would not recommend drinking it within four hours of going to bed either-- it's got quite the caffeine kick.

Kombucha is one of those national foods that a country simply has a habit for. It became a health fad in the US on dubious grounds... Though as an adventurous soul, I like it.

Mostly micro-distillery brands stateside that I unfortunately don’t think are distributed to Australia. Crown Royal as a hyper-premium rye brand these days, though, and it’s not bad really.

I've had or tried to make curry a few times. I like it, but don't have enough experience to really judge it.

On the complete opposite end of the experience spectrum, I fucking love tacos. Me and the family have been making them off and on since I've been a kid. Mostly ground beef (the OG), but we're branching out into stuff like pulled chicken lately.

Anybody know a way to make ground turkey taste good? I had ground turkey tacos back in college and they weren't really great, and that's even factoring in the whole "mass produced food" aspect.
