This isn't about them; this is about us and our ability to think beyond our tribalistic impulses. I'm not saying we should compromise; in fact, I'd argue against it right now, as the regressive left is clearly operating under an "all or nothing" mindset. What I am saying is that we should not be emulating their mindset; otherwise, the future we end up with will be little different from what the regressive left has in store for us.
I long for the day politics becomes sane again, and people are able to accomplish functional compromises that don't leave everyone happy, but do keep the radicals on both sides from being able to weild significant power.
