No it hasn't, things continued right for some time after the Civil War, and only started to swing left after the New Deal and communist propaganda had time to really take effect, and they've already started to swing back right. Thats only a few decades, and it was a bloody battlefield through the first half.

After the New Deal? The New Deal was in the 30s. How is that just a few decades? We are in 2020. Its nearly a 100 years.

It moves left because leftwing economics and social policies are what offers the dominant managerial class the best opportunities for exercising power and grifting.

Lets say you are someone with no talents. You get a degree in Resentment Studies. Are you going to support an ideology based around working hard and individual freedoms? Fuck no. You are are going to support the ideology that promises you lucrative opportunities to join the social justice clergy and make a living abusing and scolding the people you dont like.

You are a capitalist. Are you going to support social policies that encourage thriftiness, savings and family? Fuck no. You want hordes of single adults working long hours for low wages and spending their cash on your useless shit. You want the women in the workforce so they can reduce the cost of labour, and want endless waves pliable and cheap brown nu-slaves to work in your warehouses.

You are a civil servant. Are you going to support policies that discourage the growth of the state and reduce its influence over society? Fuck no. You want unlimited government, unlimited control, unlimited opportunities for plunder.

Here is the issue, by saying it started from the New Deal, you say that from that point on, Society has been going left. Sure, communism influence can make things go faster but it doesn't change that society has been going left since the freaking 30s. This is what you said.

I just wish I could figure out which would be the smarter play:
-Initial appointment of Amy Coney Barrett, with Barbara Lagoa being the back up if the Democrats cause a huge bitchfest

The Democrats are going to hate either one and try to stop their appointment, but with two very good options, you're essentially trying to judge which moon-shot is the best one to open with and which one has the biggest payoff if you actually succeed on the first try.

I guess Lagoa might have the bigger payoff if she gets in, since it A) shows Trump isn't a racist, and B) should earn some big points with the Cuban American demo, but I'm not entirely sure that kind of play actually works if they can't get the confirmation done before election day.

Are you retarded? You stated it started after the New deal. New Deal was in the 30s which means society started going leftwards from the 30s onwards. if you didn't mean this. why bother adding New Deal?

Seriously, read his quote. If he intends that society became left because of the communists and the consensus seems to be it started around the 60s then there is no need to mention the New Deal at all. One could go further backwards but that just proves my point.
