IIRC, a pastor in Canada was arrested for calling homosexuality a sin back in the 90's or very early 2000's.

It's not exactly been a mystery where this stuff is going. The 'tolerance' drum beat of cultural progressives was only ever a lie to convince conservatives to fight less hard, and gullible liberals and libertarians to get onto their bandwagon.

Unfortunately: it's why any business typically has a few good years (and I mean few) on having a bean counter CEO before they abruptly take a swan-dive into a shit-pit (poor reputation, breakdown of equipment, employee retention rates' falling through the floor, product quality degrading), et cetera.

We see it all the time with games companies on being purchased or merged -- and a key example of this is Blizzard on being purchased by Activision.

Look at Blizzard then to what Activision-Blizzard is now, the toxic work-culture scandals aside.

Look at EA Games through its history. Bean counter CEOs, a brief period of prosperity after a turbulent period, and then it's back to new turbulence. Rinse and repeat.

How math is used, such as in determining idiotic decisions made by people, is the problem. Math is a tool and a way for us to read an expression of the universe's fundamental concepts and inner-workings.

Bean counters are the type of people who look at the forest, not the trees... even when those trees are the things keeping the forest alive and are irreplaceable.

I reiterate: they should never, ever be put in charge of a company. They will think "things are running fine, have always ran just fine with the current equipment, so why change things when it's making us money?" when upgrades are sorely needed and more than minimum periods of maintenance are needed to keep things working in the long run.

Ironically, they often completely fuck up the "is the expected cost lesser than the expected reward?" question they're supposed to easily be able to answer/act on. smh

Their thoughts are more like "if I cut these corners, I will show a 60% profit increase which will translate into me getting an X million dollar bonus. Then I retire on a golden parachute just before shit hits the fan. Sure the company will fail soon after... but what do I care, I got mine... if I am really lucky I can even switch to another company just in time and suck it dry too".

For them failure is when the company explodes before they retire, or when the company does not die just after they retire (showing they could have sucked more out of it, but were too conservative).
Occasionally such failure occurs, other times them manage to maximize the amount of blood they suck out of the company before it dies.

To be honest instead of bean counters it would be more accurate to call them vampires.
