Conklin unlocks the fusebox in the stairwell in the span of a few seconds with his lockpick gun thanks to the generic lock on the boxes housing and swung it open for you to work your magic. Immediately you scanned your eyes over the various fuses, noticing that it was a somewhat secured system with each fuse switch secured by its own master lock and there being no index. You didn't have a voltmeter but maybe you could do it by touch, feel which one of the fuses felt inert. Or maybe you could remove the top paneling. But first things first, if this followed a common layout, the top left fuse should've been the one for his room.
Screw it, time was short.
Short the fuse to his apartment. No need for fancy lockpicking to access it. Just loosen the fuse itself and-
The lights went out on the floor. Not in the stairwell but you could see through the window of the door leading to floor proper the lights immediately go black as Conklin glanced at you. "Subtle..." he stated dryly.
You hammer the fuse back in place that you just loosened, realizing you had tripped something else a bit more... serious but thankfully the lights turn back on a second later as you gently close the cover to the fusebox and hear it latch into a locking position. "Hopefully that did it. It might have a battery backup."
"This guy might not even realize it," Conklin then said, surprisingly positively. "Let's get out of here," he then added, basically affirming whatever was done is done.
As the two of you headed back to transport, Conklin nodded to you. "We won't know until this evening for sure perhaps, but if Kebral's intelligence is right, there might be a transfer of weapons from OCP to Black Dragon custody via van sometime tomorrow and it'll be broken down at their Auto Body shop. Then the actual transfer or trade or exchange will happen somewhere else," Conklin explained. "Before we even have that debrief, we need to put some pieces into play before it's too late."
"Yeah," you reply with a nod. "The thing is, we've been doing everything on a personal basis. Iknow you wanted a light footprint, but... we might have to bring some more resources to bear."
Conklin nodded grudgingly. "I know I brought this to your doorstep, but as long as we're on American soil, this is your investigation. You have command. I'll follow your lead," the long time veteran said. The way he said it so nonchalantly might've been more of a subtle compliment to your abilities then he would ever openly let on. "We have OCP. We have an unknown meeting place. We have Ken Brac. We have the leader of the Black Dragons, this Bannak guy. If they've done this before... it leaves a trail. One that might take some time to find."
"Lotta leads to chase down," you reply. "And only one more day to seek it all out. Better to ask now and not need it then need it and not have it... something like that anyways."

It wasn't even a matter of making the calls. Between the two Marshals having already worked with the State Police and your own Boss at the FBI Field Office, it only took a pair of phone calls en route back to the surveillance vehicle that got you the resources you had asked to be available for the next day or so. Some of it would be short notice of course, but you'd be able to use a lot of it immediately, while other stuff would need some advance notice. For better or worse, you decided to leave the local police out of the whole affair. If things got serious, well maybe they'd get involved soon enough. But after the run in with that Sheriffs Department earlier today, one couldn't be too sure if the Black Dragon infiltration was possible in both the county and city law enforcement.
"Hey... so those AV bugs only have a limited range. Bout half a mile with all of this clutter. One of us should stay here to monitor the feed and maintain surveillance this evening," Alex then explained. "Whoever it is can conference call into the debrief back at the Federal Building though. Might be the best way to handle it. Just wondering who you want babysitting the surveillance op."

By the time you had made the choice for surveillance of Ken's apartment, the rest of your team was already setting up for a debrief at the Federal Building's Conference Room just like you all had done earlier in the morning. Lucy was already sending you texts about potential topics to bring up, even without knowing about the fruits of your visit to their apartment. More importantly, she was asking about what they'd be having for dinner. Apparently the cafeteria was serving cheeseburgers as todays entree. Bacon was including.

Jimmy was happy. And that seemed to lighten the mood quite a bit as the hoagies everyone was having for dinner were for the most part being finished up. Jimmy was wiping his lips clean of excess coleslaw and mayonnaise with the last of his napkins while Robb was quietly tossing aside the edges of his bread crust and finishing off Senior Marshal Rose Rollin's waffle fries and Conklin seemed to be practicing his enhanced interrogation technique as he prodded his salad with his fork, trying to skewer the last few ham cubes.
Robb was the one who broached the beginning of the discussion however as he turned to the two Marshals. "Did your time at the Truckyard turn up anything?" he asked.
Rose responded, making eye contact with all of them as she did so. "We checked out the truckyard. Looks clean. Not even optimized for smuggling," she then said, shaking her head. "A few looks around, the employees look like normal hourly wage types. Normal traffic and business hours. State Police didn't even seem to have anything suspicious going there for quite some time. Not the past few months anyways."
Conklin nodded. "Similar timeframe to this Ken Brac's arrival. Our interview with Greg Kebral and his soldier seemed to indicate that this Ken Brac guy is working for some third party cartel or criminal organization. Smuggling firearms surplus from a local OCP facility hidden in a delivery van. They take it apart at the Auto Body shop and then the local leader of the Black Dragons and Ken Brac take the weapons to some unknown meeting place. Next one is scheduled for ten PM tomorrow. Truckyard didn't even factor into what he told us."
"Did the investigation at his apartment turn anything up?" Senior Marshal Rose Rollins then asked. "The word of one criminal is basically hearsay."
Conklin glanced at you but then spoke himself. "We placed a tap on his phone and planted some bugs in his room. We got a few bugs planted. A pair of FBI agents," he then said, nodding towards you. "...are monitoring it in case anything interesting comes up. My personal insights though... everything seems off about this guy. His movie collection. His book collection. It's all new releases or bargain bin garbage. Random either way. He was watching CNN. Lots of martial arts and fitness stuff. His medicine cabinet... most of the stuff there was over the counter aspirin and cold medicine, all untouched. Also..." Conklin paused. "His drain covers were clean. No hair or anything. The only things he used in there besides the toilet paper and towels was the bleach."
He paused then glanced over at you. "We also popped open the safe. About fifty gold coins, one ounce each. So roughly... at least fifteen thousand in gold in there. Also a pistol, no serial numbers. And some pills, also unprescripted," he added before nodding to you.

There were a few exchanged glances, especially between the marshals as you informed them of the bedroom situation in the apartment before asking your own followup question to the two Marshals. Rose, being the Senior, spoke up first.
"Lucy is the one who chatted him up," Rose said matter of factly. "He acted... kinda normal from what I saw. Very short and terse. Kind of awkward."
Her Junior partner nodded in agreement before speaking, using her hands as she spoke to illustrate her point. "So I approached him for directions to a nearby café, one that Robb texted me was one neighboring a store he visited. He immediately shook his head and responded with a No when I stepped in front of him inadvertently and he knocked me back. His eyes went wide and he felt like a hunk of iron... like... really well built. And he just stared at me, like in deep thought and I just stared back at him, totally acting baffled and shocked and he offered a serious apology after a second and just planted his feet there. I didn't respond to his apology but started to talk to him about his physique and if he worked out."
Lucy waved her hands about. "I was able to actually engage him in a conversation about working out and I even got Rose involved in it. His answers were very short and straightforward and he just stared at us like... really intensely," Lucy then said before turning her face towards you and leaning forward a bit, narrowing her eyes at you as a bit of a demonstration. "Like that uhh… that President."
"LBJ?" Alexander Conklin then said.
"Yeah... the guy you helped get the Vietnam War started, that guy," Lucy replied sarcastically as Alex guffawed momentarily at the underhanded quip at the CIA's expense. "He was leering over me like... giving the LBJ treatment but I just talked to him like normally and he just engaged me. Asked where I worked out. What exercises I did. How much protein I ate and its sources. What my favorite... uhhh meat was."
Rose shook her head.
"I was seriously when I said sausage Rose. It wasn't like that-," Lucy replied, wanting more then anything it seemed to steer this debriefing off course but rightly resisted the urge. "Then he commented on my gun... apparently he noticed it under my jacket in the concealed holster... or the shoulder strap or something and we talked about that too. Thank God this is gun country or it would've been awkward explaining that."
"Nothing you said really relates to the bedroom situation though," Robb then interjected, clearly hoping this was going somewhere.

"We should see about following up on this, even though time is short," Alexander Conklin then said. "We still have a lot of leads we can run down before tomorrow night. Was there anything else to cover?" the CIA Agent then asked.
You gestured to the copies of the reports everyone had filed. Alex and Robb both had their minutes in bulletpoint fashion from surveillance and shadowing of Ken Brac. The Marshals had a short report on their time at the Truckyard including lots of names of employees, regulars, and license plates, makes and models of vehicles and a few pictures of things of interest. And you and Alex had a thicker folder, loaded with the pictures you both had taken and what you had found in the apartment... including your own estimates on the money within the safe and other insights Alex might've overlooked or differed in.
"Alex. Robb. Was there anything you wanted to share in regards to your surveillance and shadowing of Ken and his residence most of the day?" you finally asked, feeling that was the last major thing to wrap up in this debrief before moving forward.
Robb shrugged a bit and then pulled up his report. "So as soon as I relieved Alex from surveillance, about twenty or so minutes passed and then Ken departed. He left the apartment, headed to a nearby park. He walked through the park. Stopped at a bench and sat there for a bit. Then he wandered around off the trail for a bit around some trees and the like. Then he headed to a coffeeshop and ordered a coffee. Was there for about fifteen minutes then tossed the coffee in the bin. Not even sure if he drank it. Stopped at a convenience store. An auto parts store. Never for more then fifteen or twenty minutes. He bought a magazine at the convenience store. Some news magazine. He then went to a bus stop... browsed it for a bit then left the magazine on the bench and wandered across the street and did some window shopping. Then he headed into a big box retailer... one of those massive warehouse stores we have downtown. Up until this point I didn't follow him into any of these businesses and it was the same with this. He left without a bag presumably without buying anything... apparently he just walked the aisles for half an hour or so and then headed to the dojo that's a Black Dragon front. Then Jimmy joined me. After he left the dojo, he stopped at an antique shop which was next to the café that Lucy name dropped for about five or ten minutes, then headed out and ran into the Marshals then."
Alex was shaking his head, frowning a bit.
The two Marshals glanced at each other and smirked.
Even Jimmy glanced at you, a pensive look on his face.
Robb's brow furrowed. He clearly felt out of the loop suddenly.

"Weapons smuggling is serious enough, but this kind of behavior. It doesn't happen randomly, no matter how weird or awkward you are," Marshal Lucy Lloyd then explained. "This guy could be... Cartels... or he could be the operative of another country," Lucy then said, shaking her head at the possibilities.
Alexander raised his hand cautiously. "We don't wanna get ahead of ourselves. His name came up from an investigation overseas but we don't think it's connected with a foreign government," Alexander then said.
"You told us originally that his name and PO Box came up from an overseas intelligence haul," Rose Rollins then said. "What country did this happen in?"
Alex frowned a bit. "It is classified. But in all honesty the country of origin is something I don't feel is relevant to the case," Alex then said, knowing his terse response wasn't too satisfying.
