Heavy attrition with the fighters, coupled with BT's issues with carriers... well, the SLS Enterprise failed for a reason, and that reason, IIRC, hasn't gone away.

[X] Both.

Not just for the BSG memes, though BT does make is marginally more viable, but because a Dreadnought carrying fighter CV DropShips, possibly all drones controlled by the Dreadnought, seem like the best option, though I aware of the issues regarding DS vulnerability. I am also not the most experienced with BT's rule systems, so take my armchair admiralism with a healthy doze of salt.

**I also like the idea of a heavy DS capacity to provide the ASF screening necessary. Though our Warship should focus on overwhelming long range fire, and possibly overwhelming missile firepower IFF achievable. I'm thinking POD'nought from Honor'verse levels of missile spam. I'd also be happy with scores of HNPPCs.

Oooo, I hope a Grifftiger is with the diplomats when they first meet the Explorer Corps. Just for the Robes to try to wrap their heads around the fact not only does alien sentient life exist, they have already been completely integrated into a human culture with next to no internal dissent.

Maybe we should introduce ourselves as Clan Grifftiger... :devilish:

Oh, yeah, meeting ComStar. We're on track for a Civil War/Jihad entry into the rest of human space aren't we?

They are going to hate the fuck out of us. With our own WarShips, Clantech tier tech, and our own HPGs.

The reason that carriers work so well in real life is that carriers and fighters work in different mediums.
Well, it's also because by mid-to-late WWII, it was impossible to effectively armor battleships against air attack. The ludicrous size of the H44 napkinwaffe was an attempt to at least hypothetically lay out a battleship that could withstand modern air attack. Battletech doesn't have that issue, as ASFs don't actually have truly effective anti-capital weapons short of nukes

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning

Short of massed fire by a lot of ASFs and they'll take horrific losses in doing so.

I've decided to change my vote because I feel the Supercarrier does have a role for us.
[X] Both
-[X] Alternate, not same design
-[X] Dreadnoughts first and at a 2:1 ratio, but stutter-start (Dread, Sup-Carrier, Dread, Dread, SC, Dread, Dread, SC...)

I like this variant best, I want a "Bismarck"-esque Warship for the Griffon Empire to be the first 2 million ton first though :D
And given the time I hope that by the time we work on our 2nd Super Carrier - our drone tech will be of a sophisticated enough nature that they will provide the majority of fighters on the Carrier by then.

Okay, so you want an impressively massive but fundamentally obsolete and badly designed fast battleship with critical elements located outside the armor and a small army of fanboys that follow it around.
