As an outside observer, should matters come to blows it seems to me that the Harris-Biden administration would just roll over for China without firing a shot. Hell, given how the withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled and how they're alternately victim-blaming and suppressing all info about the minimum of hundreds of Americans they admit they've stranded there, I would even expect their genuine incompetence - if it even is genuine incompetence and not an attempt at accelerating America's 'managed decline' since Trump interrupted the globalists' timetable - to be completely indistinguishable from a consciously malicious abandonment of the Pacific Rim to China. Considering what happened to Tulsi Gabbard and how much further along the demonization of anti-globalist politics is on the American left compared to the right, it doesn't seem like any other Democratic administration would be much different.
However if the US happens to be led by a populist, properly anti-Chinese Republican administration or even a Democratic one with real spine when the Red Emperor comes knocking. To me it appears that there's absolutely no real reason why India shouldn't align with the US, and Pakistan with China. The Cold War's over, the Chinese and Pakistanis have a strong, longstanding special relationship while India's right-wing leadership got along splendidly with Trump and others in his mold, and obviously India and China have had longtime territorial tensions since the Sino-Indian War which just flared up last year (resulting in the deaths of dozens). And seeing as the Pakistani ISI is the only reason the Taliban exists in the first place and their prime minister (who is what passes for a western-educated progressive there!) publicly congratulated them on retaking A-stan, Pakistan is also about as trustworthy & valuable an ally as Saudi Arabia, if not even less.
I won't claim to be a geostrategic expert (not that they've gotten much right if the last 20 years of MENA/Central Asian outcomes are any indicator), but I see literally no reason why America should even pretend to still be allies with Pakistan now, least of all if/when they're moving toward a war footing against China. It just makes sense for both America and China to drop that act, as if the Pakistanis haven't all but dropped it themselves already (and certainly not hypothetically), and make an Indo-American realignment official against the Beijing-Islamabad axis. Letting the Chinese have Pakistan while adding India to Team Stars, Burgers & Freedom's roster seems like it would solve one of everyone's big geopolitical uncertainties on the road to war.
