China is Preparing for war with the West

You're forgetting that there is a long, long history of proxy and semi-proxy wars over the last hundred years.

If China invades Taiwan (the only vaguely feasible flashpoint), and start getting their asses kicked, then they have two options:

1. Accept the loss, and survive as a nation.
2. Go nuclear, and stop existing as a nation.

Keep in mind, the number of nuclear weapons they have that can even reach the USA is extremely limited, something like 2-3 dozen, and after you account for communist industrial technology failure and every damn interceptor the USA can throw at those missiles, maybe half that will hit. Most likely all along the western seaboard, possibly Washington and NY taking hits, though with the sheer amount of defensive depth available there, that's unlikely.

The US would be hurt, but in exchange, China could be taking hundreds of nuclear hits from us. Any nuclear exchange that they start, will by definition be a losing one for them.

That doesn't mean it's impossible they'll actually do so, just that it is the madness option.
IDK. Winnie the Pooh is by definition a psychopath. And not the 'oh I'm going to beat the shit out of everyone in the room' kind. more of the modern 'everyone's making fun of me, better threaten my insignificant neighbor that China only owned for four years and didn't even belong to my side :( ' So I don't think he would care in the end. If he dies in nuclear hellfire, it'd probably be better than what we would do to him after the fog has passed.

So in other words, the best case scenario for the conflict not going nuclear is massive numbers of American plebeian soldiers, quite plausibly relying upon a draft simply to get said numbers, dying for a continuation of the status quo and inevitably a lot of 'wartime emergency' measures rammed through goverment.

Yeah, but we're Americans. There's a Army base not too far off from my house that used c4 on an ant hill once.
That's because it was TRAINING! You have to learn how to emplace explosives, AND they needed to remove an ant hill.

IT'S A TWO-FER! The rare training that doubles as infrastructure management!
He isn't wrong though.
There is no such thing as Overkill in the USArmy

Actually, it makes me wonder how they emplaced it...

1. Right on top of the hill with no ballast? Did they use ballast to help push the blast into the hill?
2. Dug it right into the hill to make the ants swarm first?
3. Dug in from the side and angled the blast?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Honestly, nobody knows, except the people who did it. Only that it scared the shit out of an old lady who was driving by the base when all of a sudden *BOOM* and next thing you know, it's in the papers "Army base Blows up Ant Hill!"

This article was released on a State Run Media run by the CCP. To sum it up for those who don't understand Mandarin, it's pretty much saying that China is the subject of biological warfare by Americans and how America made the Coronavirus and Chinese citizens should prepare for war.

They're not wrong; The Intercept recently got a hold of documents that revealed the Trump Administration resumed Gain of Function research into coronaviruses....with grants to Wuhan. Although the Chinese are indeed minimizing their culpability in this, the gist of their point is valid. More specific to the hyperbolic title of this thread and the claims contained within, it's pretty obvious they are without merit and essentially just kneejerk 1950s style Anti-Communism. For those who find sympathy with such a view, it might be worth taking a step back and considering why this is suddenly in vogue:

I've got a massive migraine right now, I so I'm just going to assume that you're saying that both sides are at fault here and call it a day.

Soros wants money.
China won't let him make money there.
Simple as that.
China is communist, therefore evil.

What?
Because China is taking heavy control of everything? Has already disowned and made celebrities disappear because they did not have a perfectly clean record of sucking off China?

I know you're being obtuse given my point was pretty obviously questioning the sudden wave of Anti-China sentiments here in the States, but specific to your point: who gives a fuck? If China is taking control of everything within their borders in the economic sense, not only is that not my problem nor the businesses of any America, but hey, I'm glad they're doing it and I think we should look at them as an example. Our capitalist class is absolutely obscene, treasonous, and a degenerate influence upon society.

Which might encourage you to examine the motives behind others too, and how this Anti-China wave suddenly sprung into existence?

Maybe b/c a LOT of people are starting to wake up the fact that China is horrible place if you don't agree with the Man?

Or the fact that they use slave labor?

Or maybe the fact that they put gays and Christians into Prison Camps?

Or maybe that they won't allow anyone to make money in a way that doesn't profit the regime?

Oh yes, just suddenly waking up right as people like George Soros are getting upset over their inability to gain leverage over China. No coincidence there at all, not one bit! Nevermind they were genociding Falun Gong back in the 1990s, just suddenly we care?

Get real, this has pretty much been astro-turfed into existence the past year or so and people are just going along with it because it tickles the lingering Cold War knee jerk.

I would think after the recent humiliation of Afghanistan, people would start to realize how baseless this outlook is.

You mean a humiliation caused because of an inept POTUS and giving away things for the Taliban to use to kill people?
Huh, I wonder why a strong leader like Trump would not have allowed that...

You're recall the deal was signed by Trump in early 2020, almost a year and half ago lol. The War in Afghanistan was lost long ago, not suddenly in the Summer of 2021. Specific to the purposes of this thread and the issue of China, what the Chinese do in their own borders is none of my business or yours, unless it poses a serious risk to ourselves.
