Did... did you miss everything Biden and the Democrats have done to benefit the CCP since they took power? The investigations they shut down; the regulations they lifted? Meanwhile, the only pressure they've put on China amounts to nothing more than playacting for the cameras.

Why would we let the CCP buy up our infrastructure, bribe our media, and subvert our academic institutions if we weren't? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many weapons Taiwan has; if America isn't willing to show up when the chips are down, the CCP are going to win. Those weapons will make it more costly to their armed forces, but let's be honest; the CCP are not worried about getting their excess young men killed.

You underestimate the difficulty of invading across the sea.
You also probably overestimate the morale and willingness to die of Chinese conscripts.
There is a modest but very real possibility that Taiwan could fight of China by itself. I would not put money on it, but it's possible. In the long run, if China can effectively blockade Taiwan, they'd eventually win, but supplying your own military across the sea and maintaining a blockade isn't easy either.
If Vietnam joins in, the Chinese are in deep shit. If Japan or the Philippines do as well, their odds of winning are lousy. You could also potentially see Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand throwing in, not to mention India.
If the US joins in, China is guaranteed to lose (not least because if we jump in every other nation in SE Asia is likely to), but victory is by no means certain for them if we don't.

Practical choices wont be made on that front for quite some time, we might have to wait for fusion which by the way is possible.
Also impossible to cause to meltdown, because they use liquid salts as coolant instead of water in the primary coolant loop.
