Aside from being fairly close in diameter, yeah, they are. But the recoil of that old Marlin I shot and an M-16 felt about the same to me, which is to say almost nothing.

I don't know, I almost feel like the point he's trying to make is like he thinks the light recoil makes it more horrible somehow because it supposedly fires a giant murder bullet or something like that. Keep in mind that .223 is much smaller than what was considered a "full caliber" military round for both World Wars, which for the US was .30-06, yet you hardly see these types ranting about how horrible murder machine the Garand is. Actually you can hilariously see them feature it as a "hunting rifle" in comparison to the "weapons of war" that are the so-called "assault weapons."

However being forced to exercise with an M1 Garand is not fun. Back when I was in Boot Camp Sailors carrried those guns as the Company's weapon.

I'm so using the OG-43 - with a few minor refinments, like e.g. a version with reargrip, shorter barrel and in hip holster, for my "better Esercito Regio in WWII" fantasies!
And all other WWII fantasies too - as PDW (the short version) and carbine (longer, slung across back) for tankers and team operated weapon crews.
In the mighty 7,65x17mm, of course :p

So as emergency earpro, Crayola Model Magic clay works decently well, just be careful with it. It's non toxic, foamy clay that hardens in contact with air. It tends to pull out as one piece. If it doesn't, give what's left more time to harden, then try again. Obviously, buy actual earpro if possible because of ease of extraction, but ignoring that, it was damn good earpro.

The issue is you never know who is there because they need help or because they want to do you harm
Especially in Arizona
Assessing a threat is not really that hard. I have had to do it from time to time when people came on to my property and properties I was guarding.

... They objectively are? Seriously. Look it up. The amount of Cartel killings of Americans in America is really freaking small, and gets even smaller if you exclude other cartel members (who aren't American usually).
Look at this one maybe exception that proves the rule:

So maybe, just maybe, read a little before spouting claims of knowledge in things you haven't read about.
NY times has spoken...... ?
Not really a good citation source.

Most of what goes on the southern border never makes news.

Like multiple heavy machine gun fire pushing US Border Patrol off the border for hours. Shooting down helicopters, etc.... You know acts of war not reported. What is a few killings between friends who have a shared political goal?

How about USBP agent followed home beaten until he was unconscious, his car, base, and gun stolen......with a note warning them not to F@@@ with their business.

The unfortunate agent did a random stop and found millions in cash. Which means over time putting all that $ into evidence. So when he did get home for the day the cartels had people waiting for him, at his home.
Talk about lack of OPSEC.

It was not long after the billboard next to I-10 had the effigy of a police officer hanging from his neck on it, with graffiti saying “ silver or lead”.

- Or the time a guy was executed at a stop sign, by multiple people in El Paso. Local News never said who he was, national news never touched the story.

An interesting one sorta related a bunch of people went out to the desert to go shooting. Shot up all there ammo driving back and a truckload of armed men stop them, take all their guns, because they had no ammo.

Official story anyway see the guys all members of Local LEO’s.
Rumor was it had more to do with trading guns for cash, possibly guns from evidence lockers.
All but the last example are from first-hand knowledge, the guns and LEO’s came from other LEO making fun of the situation.

Once you realize a few hundred bureaucrats and elected officials are convicted of bribery every year down along the border you start to understand.

Corruption is systemic kickbacks bribery every place. School administrators selling students personal information. The entire school board was arrested for corruption and a federal mandate to run the school system for 10 years corrupt.

THIS IS NOT A GUN CONTROL THREAD!

This is a thread for discussion about GUNS! Firearms! slug throwers! fire sticks! HOT LEAD AND CORDITE!

What you own, what you want, what you hate, why your opinion is best and should be listened to!

TRY and keep it to real guns, M'kay? But if the urge to DAKKA comes... well... you know what to do.

Pictures. We want gun porn.
Videos? Sure! Some people like to watch, you know...

First, we must be blessed by the Patron Saint of the Holey Boomstick.

Something for the bullpup lovers with a tight budget and access to a 3D printer:

It does require a Foxtrot Mike side charging upper, but that's ~$600 or less with a complete upper and often a lower parts kit included. If you've already got a printer and the filament, I think the build cost comes out below $700.

You know, with all the 3D printing shit going around, I'm surprised that mass-produced, viable firearms based on fictional firearms aren't more a thing e.g. a UNSC battle rifle, a GDI/Nod AR-70 Raptor, et cetera.

Bullpups are famous for their poor triggers. The unmodified weights below.
The mil-spec requirement for the trigger pull on the M4A1 (military version of the civilian AR-15), taken directly from MIL-C-71186 states that the trigger pull weight shall be within the range of 5.5 to 8.5 pounds.

With that said, not all AR-15's use Mil-spec triggers and therefore can be as low as 2.5 pounds of trigger pull.

That being said, the complaints aren't always that the triggers are heavy, but that they aren't crisp. Also, since the ejection port has to be away from your center of mass on a bullpup, it makes it slightly less convenient to clear jams and slightly more likely to be hit with hot brass. They didn't show this under firing conditions, so it's hard to gauge how it deals with these.

Overall, looks cool. I always had a softspot for bullpups and disappointed with the near universal hate they receive.

So all three people in the world who actually like bullpups got something good.

The words ".308 caliber rifle" and "3D printed" shouldn't be used to describe the same object.

A lot of that is copyright/trademark stuff, plus the fact that making accurate receivers for these guns takes fucking forever with a 3D printer.

And that assumes the printing process doesn't get fucked up somehow.

Funny you should say that:
