There haven't been many rifles I've been really tempted by. Most of them are just AR or AK clones, with the FN ones be an un-notable exception. I was pretty tempted when I first heard about this rifle back when the original Forgotten Weapons video came out. Right now I'm torn between dropping a couple grand and waiting to see if the price drops.

VHS is back, baby! $2000 right now, but it should get down to ~$1500 by this time next year.
Honestly, the main point of sale I can see--being something of a total ignoramus on bullpups--is how well it'd fit as a Halo cosplay-piece for the funsies of it. It's got that big, battle-rifle energy.

Admittedly, since I haven't followed development of it basically at all, upon first being referenced to it by you I did have a brief moment of wondering if they went full send on weirdness and said 'Wait...is the magwell on the side?' before recognizing it as the bolt.
But ever since then I haven't been able to escape that lingering, dark voice in the back of my head whispering about how silly-stupid-neat it'd be if that was actually the case. :p

An AR-15 with a horizontal magwell is something I've wanted for ages. Hell, make it a manly AR-10 with a straight mag. I'll never be able to afford an FG-42, probably not even the semiauto reproductions, but I could afford something like that. And it would be an awesome range toy, just built for plunking down on a table and putting rounds downrange.

So how does the Hellion match up to the Tavor?

Tavor owner here, "X95" model to be exact. I can't say anything about the VHS as I haven't handled, fired or disassembled one yet other than seeing the videos, but I will admit the VHS looks like an interesting concept. I particularly like the fact it has interchangeable magwells AND trigger groups, considering the trigger group as Forgotten Weapons described looks to have a bit of a long mushy trigger pull. I also couldn't help but notice the fire control markings look similar to the "US Navy" trigger group markings on the MP5 smg.

I CAN say that I normally don't go for bullpups, but the Tavor X95 is the one of the few exceptions in my collection. It's accurate, easy to handle, very ergonomic and perfectly balanced, hell you can fire it one handed if you want to (with the usual disclaimer that I don't recommend it). The magazine release is an ambidextrous button you can press with your trigger finger, the fire selector can be switched for righties or lefties and is within reach of one's thumb. The bolt release in fact is a lever right behind the magwell that you just give a nice tap with your off hand or a magazine to chamber a round. It's easy, but takes some practice to get used to if you're more used to running with an AR platform. And trigger pull itself is very crisp, and short, something you don't always get with bullpups. Personally, I love the damn thing as it's easy to tote around with especially if I'm in a vehicle or moving around in a tight spot, plus you get 16 inches of barrel for a small package you can bring up to your shoulder quick.

And since I spent a whole paragraph pimping my Tavor, I'd attach an image, but my PC won't let me at the moment. 🤬

So has anybody seen this Credit Card gun before?

I'm seeing nothing but good reviews for it on YouTube, which leads me to conclude they're chock full of schills because there's no way this could possibly be useful for self defense. By the time you've had time to get out your wallet, unfold this thing from it's credit card form, try to aim it, and finally fire its single bullet your would-be mugger has already emptied his clip into you and is six blocks away from your cooling corpse.

Nifty looking though, I have to admit. It's like a Transformer casseticon that also turns into a gun or something. But I'm finding it difficult to imagine as anything but pure gimmick.

These bullpups are kind of neat, but I think I'll stick to an AR simply because they seem easier to clean and maintain.

You do realize that you aren't obligated to keep it in your wallet though? Just because it uses 'credit card' as a descriptor in its dimensions, doesn't mean that you have to keep it by your Visa. Plus, it's probably too fat to put into your wallet, even though it has the same footprint as a card.

Of course, even in a pocket it's still probably less useful than a derringer that you don't need to unfold.

Meh, it looks more like a cool toy (and it does look neat actually) than anything useful, unless you wanna cosplay as a secret agent or hitman. If you want concealed protection, there are plenty better options out there like the S&W Shield, Sig P365, Springfield Hellcat, Glock 43, etc.

Wrong thread buddy, you're looking for this one:

@bullethead graciously redirected me here !
https://www.the-sietch.com/index.ph...ding-ideas-the-imperial-union-of-brazil.7249/ so since I like my fiction being at surface level resemble reality, I wanted to ask you guys on what would be a realistic future assault rifle, pistol and shotguns IF YOU HAD unlimited budget to design and produce them ?

Also, do you know someone who might be able to do visualizations?

Now that I'm paying attention... :p

1. I'd like to see caseless ammo that works in all environments, even the wet ones.
2. You may also see a new propellant available. Might achieve higher chamber pressures for increased muzzle velocity. Downside is that you'll probably need better materials for chamber and barrel to hand the increased pressure and heat. Advanced composites maybe.
3. Inherent imaging systems that enable point and shoot for the handler. Low light and/or thermal capability.
4. Downside is that a lighter weapon with greater boom means more kick and abuse of the shooter. So there's going to need to be an increase in recoil dampening as well.

If you can do that kind of material advancement, you'll likely also see an improvement in protective materials as well. Maybe even a truly flexible/breathable ballistic material that is form fitting, and doesn't require metal plate reinforcement. IF you're really high speed you build a material that also disperses the kinetic energy across a much larger surface area vs impact area. That will help prevent broken bones and explosive trauma.

This a bit vague. Maybe a bit more on layman terms ? I am a gun expert as much as I am tank expert.

I am not

Basically, five minutes into the future, the main thing you're going to see is people slapping on these kinds of absurd bullshit optics that cost as much or more than a rifle:

But it's basically going to do all the hard parts of calculating the shots for you, so you can hit further.
