FBI worked with Ukraine intelligence agency to remove social media accounts: House Judiciary report

The FBI colluded with a Ukrainian intelligence agency in an effort to disrupt Russian disinformation campaigns by flagging social media accounts in a failed effort that ensnared a verified Russian-language U.S. State Department account and others, the House Judiciary Committee said in a report released Monday.

The report said the FBI partnered with the SBU, one of Ukraine's intelligence agencies, to flag the accounts believed to have spread Russian disinformation. Both agencies flagged American accounts for removal, as well as those belonging to American journalists, the report said.

The FBI and SBU requested the removal or suspension of the accounts expressing pro-Ukrainian views or criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the report said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the FBI regarding the report but has not yet heard back.

"Regardless of its intended purpose in endorsing the SBU's requests, the FBI had no legal justification for facilitating the censorship of Americans' protected speech on social media," the report said. "In contrast to the Biden Administration's stated support for Ukraine, the FBI, on behalf of the SBU, flagged Americans' accounts and posts that were critical of Vladimir Putin and Russia's invasion of Ukraine."

The SBU was previously infiltrated by a network of Russian collaborators, sympathizers, and double agents, according to the report. Furthermore, the FBI appeared to not vet the American social media accounts or did so and carried out the requests anyway, the panel said.

The committee said the SBU's motives for flagging the accounts came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to fire the head of SBU in 2022 as the agency was "compromised by a network of Russian collaborators, sympathizers, and double agents."

The FBI relayed censorship requests from the SBU to Google and YouTube, the report said, with senior employee on Google's cybersecurity team saying they were "deluged with various requests" for the removal of content following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"The employee testified that the primary sources of these requests for censorship were the Ukrainian government, other Eastern European governments, the European Union, and the European Commission," the report said. "The employee further testified that the U.S. 'Department of Justice would route [censorship] requests from foreign governments.'"

An employee for Meta, the parent of Facebook, spoke with the FBI about establishing "a 24/7 channel" for emergency requests.

"The censorship requests appear to have been driven, at least in part, by the SBU's quest for self-preservation," the report said.

The report came two days before FBI Director Christopher Wray is expected to testify before the GOP-controlled Judiciary Committee.

The hearing will put Wray face-to-face with several Republican lawmakers who have accused him of politically weaponizing the FBI against churches, parents and political opponents of the Biden administration.

Fox News' Lawrence Richard contributed to this report.

US Justice Department says missing GOP whistleblower is arms trafficker, Chinese agent

The Justice Department on Monday unsealed charges against the co-director of a Maryland think tank, alleging he acted as an illegal arms broker and unregistered agent for the Beijing government while also seeking to help China obtain Iranian oil in violation of U.S. sanctions.

Gal Luft, a dual U.S. and Israeli citizen, is accused of recruiting and paying a former high-ranking U.S. government official – and advisor to then president-elect Donald Trump -- on behalf of principals based in China in 2016 without registering in the U.S. as a foreign agent as federal law requires.

The 57-year-old fugitive has become a key figure in Republican-led corruption investigations into President Joe Biden, accusing him, son Hunter Biden and other family members of having improper financial arrangements with the China-controlled energy company CEFC. The White House and Biden family representatives have issued broad denials of such claims of corruption as being false and without merit.

The eight-count indictment unsealed Monday charges Luft with offenses related to willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, arms trafficking, Iranian sanctions violations and making false statements to federal agents. He was arrested on February 17 in Cyprus based on the U.S. charges but subsequently fled after being released on bail while extradition proceedings were pending and remains a fugitive, the Justice Department said in a news release late Monday announcing his indictment.

Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said Luft "engaged in multiple, serious criminal schemes."

"He subverted foreign agent registration laws in the United States to seek to promote Chinese policies by acting through a former high-ranking U.S. Government official; he acted as a broker in deals for dangerous weapons and Iranian oil; and he told multiple lies about his crimes to law enforcement," Williams said in the Justice Department statement. "As the charges unsealed today reflect, our Office will continue to work vigorously with our law enforcement partners to detect and hold accountable those who surreptitiously attempt to perpetrate malign foreign influence campaigns here in the United States."

Claims of being an anti-Biden whistleblower
A longtime energy security analyst who splits his time between Maryland and Israel, Luft has accused Biden family members of bribery and of having received payments from individuals with ties to Chinese military intelligence or energy firms.

Luft, whose Institute for the Analysis of Global Security focuses on energy security, has denied wrongdoing in tweets in which he also claimed the Justice Department case against him is politically motivated.

Senator Ron Johnson, one of several prominent Republicans to tout Luft as a whistleblower witness, also suggested in a July 9 tweet that the Justice Department case against Luft is connected to his alleged interest in exposing Biden family corruption.

"Is DOJ trying to silence Dr. Gal Luft from publicly exposing Biden family corruption?" asked Johnson, R-Wisc., the top Republican on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. "The American people deserve the truth and Dr. Luft must have the chance to testify before Congress."

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, also has been heavily touting Luft as a potential breakthrough witness with incriminating evidence of corruption against the Bidens. But so far, Comer hasn't revealed specifics.

In May, Comer was forced to acknowledge that the House committee had lost track of its whistleblower. And three days before the criminal charges were unsealed, Comer told the conservative Newsmax media outfit that Luft was "a very credible witness on Biden family corruption [who] provided incriminating evidence to six officials from the FBI and the DOJ in a meeting in Brussels in March 2019."

'Multiple, serious criminal schemes'
According to the indictment, Luft conspired with others in an effort to act within the United States to advance China's interests without registering as foreign agents.

As part of this scheme, in part using his role as co-director of the non-profit think tank, Luft "agreed to covertly recruit and pay, on behalf of principals based in China," a former high-ranking U.S. government official. Those efforts began in 2016 while the former official was an adviser to Trump and continued after Trump was in the White House, to publicly support pro-China policies without telling the Justice Department about their hidden pro-China agenda, the indictment said.

The Trump advisor is identified only as Individual-1 in the filing. Luft then suggested he was maneuvering to get the Trump advisor into a good political position to help China. "We do not want to spill all the beans yet, just enough to let 'people' know he [i.e., Individual-1] is in the corridor of power to be," Luft allegedly said. He also said "there can be a supremely unique opportunity for China" given their clandestine roles in helping promote pro-Beijing policies in the U.S.

Luft also acted as a broker or middleman to find both buyers and sellers of certain weapons and other materials, without a license to do so as required under U.S. law, in violation of the Arms Export Control Act. That included working to broker a deal for Chinese companies to sell certain weapons to Libya, including anti-tank launchers, grenade launchers, and mortar rounds, which Luft and his associates referred to in coded language as "toys," according to the Justice Department.

The indictment also alleges that Luft worked to broker deals for certain weapons to be sold to the United Arab Emirates, including aerial bombs and rockets, and for certain weapons to be sold by a Chinese company to Kenya, including unmanned aerial "strike" vehicles or drones.

At one point, during a voluntary interview with U.S. law enforcement in which he was asked questions about his involvement in arms trafficking, Luft "made multiple false statements, including that he had not sought to engage in or profit from arms deals."

Justice Department officials also said Luft conspired with others and attempted to broker deals for Iranian oil, directing an associate to refer to it as "Brazilian" oil in an effort to conceal the activity in violation of U.S. sanctions against Iran. Luft also lied about that, the indictment said, making multiple false statements, "including that he had tried to prevent oil deals with Iran and had not been present during meetings with the Chinese energy company and Iranians."

Probably should have posted this here in the first place...

So, TLDR-
the US Department of Justice, an organization that has shown to be firmly under the control of the deep state (who control Biden) is claiming that an anti-Biden Whistleblower, who has now gone missing, is in fact a foreign agent.

I'm sorry, is anyone else's bullshit detector screaming right now?

In a strange twist, 'justice is blind' in America has recovered from cataracts —and can mercilessly target its political prey without fear.

What happens to a nation when
the criminal justice system buries the evidence of *alleged* crimes of a sitting president—and instead, indicts the messenger, the think tank guy who can expose the president as a nat'l security threat?

We're expected to believe that Joe Biden's move to FIRE all of Trump's DOJ appointees was right and good.

And that the Obama's jilted Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, is an impartial enforcer.
Still, the tunnel-visioned DOJ that protects the Biden's at all costs is acting at the behest of someone
🤫

We know exactly who it is.

Republicans hold the majority in the House. Instead of wielding that power with an iron investigative fist as Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, Nadler did, .
@SpeakerMcCarthy
is wasting that power to stall and fundraise.

Proposed FBI Raid On Joe Biden Over Bribery Scandal Was Blocked For Mysterious Reason

A full-scale FBI raid on Joe Biden was ultimately shot down by a Democrat-linked attorney for an alarming reason.

Senate Republicans are continuing to press U.S. Attorney David Weiss over unanswered questions in the Joe and Hunter Biden probe, as well as disturbing new allegations that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf stonewalled any attempt to link now-president Joe Biden.

CBS News' Catherine Herridge reported the letter from Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) to U.S. Attorney David Weiss that is dated on Sunday.

"Based on information provided to my office from individuals aware of the meeting, on October 23, 2020, Justice Department and FBI Special Agents from the Pittsburgh Field Office briefed Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf, one of your top prosecutors, and FBI Special Agents from the Baltimore Field Office with respect to the contents of the FBI-generated FD-1023 alleging a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden; however, that meeting did not include any IRS agents," the letter states.

"In addition, based on information provided to my office, potentially hundreds of Justice Department and FBI officials have had access to the FD-1023 at issue, which begs the question that I've been asking since the start of my oversight in this matter: what steps have the Justice Department and FBI taken to investigate the allegations? You, Attorney General Garland, and Director Wray have failed to answer," the letter continues.

"As you are aware, IRS whistleblowers have affirmed that AUSA Wolf prevented investigators from seeking information about Joe Biden's involvement in Hunter Biden's criminal business arrangements," the letter added. "AUSA Wolf frustrated investigative efforts to question Rob Walker about Joe Biden; AUSA Wolf admitted that 'more than enough probable cause' had been achieved for a physical search warrant at Joe Biden's guest house but prevented it from happening due to 'optics'; AUSA Wolf prevented investigators from searching Hunter Biden's storage unit; AUSA Wolf called Hunter Biden's defense counsel informing him of the interest in the storage unit. Did AUSA Wolf take similar proactive measures to frustrate any investigation into the FD-1023?"

The senator then asked a series of questions about Wolf's alleged obstruction of the Joe and Hunter Biden investigation.

"In light of AUSA Wolf's alleged questionable and obstructive conduct during the course of your investigation, I'm seeking clarification from you with respect to your knowledge of these allegations and how you've handled them. Please answer the following questions no later than July 21, 2023":

  1. When did you become aware of the October 2020 briefing provided by Justice Department and FBI officials to AUSA Wolf and the FBI Baltimore Field Office?
  2. Are you aware of any steps AUSA Wolf and the Baltimore Field Office took to investigate the information within the FD-1023 before and after the October 2020 briefing? If not, why not?
  3. Why were IRS agents not included in the October 2020 briefing?
  4. Does the scope of your alleged 'ongoing investigation' include criminal bribery with respect to the alleged criminal scheme between a foreign national and then Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden? If not, why not?
  5. Have you taken any steps to recover the alleged audio recording and related evidence referenced in the FD-1023? If not, why not?
  6. When were you assured that you would be granted (Section) 515 Authority in the District of Columbia, the Central District of California, or any other district where charges could be brought in the Hunter Biden matter? Have you requested that specific authority yet? If not, why not? If so, when, where, and was the request satisfied?
The Department of Justice's Inspector General Michael Horowitz was copied on Senator Grassley's letter to U.S. Attorney Weiss.

Campaign finance records reveal that Lesley Wolf and her husband have a history of donating to Democratic campaigns. Federal Election Commission records indicate that her husband made 14 donations to Barack Obama's campaign. Additionally, Lesley Wolf contributed to ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising organization, with her donation specifically designated for Democrat Amy Klobuchar's presidential primary campaign. OpenSecrets.org also shows that she made contributions to Josh Shapiro, the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania.

Before joining the Department of Justice, Wolf worked as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Anita Brody, who was appointed by George H.W. Bush. She also served as an associate at the corporate law firm Ropes & Gray. According to University of Iowa law professor Derek Muller, 91% of the firm's political donations between 2017 and 2020 were made to Democrats, making it the 39th-most liberal among the top 100 law firms in the country.

In March 2020, Lesley Wolf was appointed as the Coronavirus Fraud Coordinator for the Delaware District by U.S. District Attorney David Weiss. She has prosecuted cases involving fraud amounts of $1.1 million and $246,000.

Weiss and Garland expected to testify before Congress about Hunter Biden's plea deal. Senate Republicans will have more allegations to discuss at the hearing, including Hunter Biden's alleged connection to a "human trafficking" ring.

Sen. Grassley and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent a letter on Thursday to Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and U.S. Attorney David Weiss.

In their letter, the Republican senators raised specific questions for Garland and Wray. They sought clarification on whether the FBI is conducting an investigation into potential criminal violations by Hunter Biden in connection with his reported use of escorts linked to human trafficking rings. Additionally, they inquired whether the FBI provided any defensive briefings to Hunter Biden regarding counterintelligence concerns raised by his close financial associations with individuals linked to the communist Chinese government, other foreign governments, and his reported involvement with foreign escorts.

During a period of approximately three and a half months between November 2018 and March 2019, Hunter Biden allegedly spent over $30,000 on escorts, some of whom had ".ru" Russian email addresses, and was associated with an exclusive model agency known as UberGFE. It is noted that Joe Biden committed to wiring him a total of $100,000 during that time to assist with his financial obligations, and there are indications that certain payments made by Hunter may have triggered suspicious activity reports with his banks.

In response to these developments, Congressional Republicans have expressed their intentions to delve further into the matter and conduct additional investigations.

You'll always find soom-sayers about any modern weapon system, and the usually have just enough truth to convince people of the parts that are nonsense.

No modern, sophisticated weapon system is as reliable as we'd like; there's simply too many ways for them to fail, and any amount of corruption or incompetence at all increases the odds of a failure. You could probably cut the cost of the F-35 by 40-60% as well if there wasn't all the bureaucratic bloat to go along with corruption and whatnot.

But the single most important thing, is that there is no aircraft in the world that can compete with the F-35 and F-22 for combat capability.

The Chinese J-20 might be in the same league, but even if it is, they don't have anywhere enough of them to seriously contest US/NATO air power, and the Soviet Gen-5 aircraft has never gone into general production.

Like every Conservative, I'd like to cut down on corruption, bloat, and cronyism in the Military-Industrial Complex, but at the least, at this point, it is still delivering the finest weapons of war in existence.

Welcome to mission bloat. They decided they wanted a fighter for all services...Air Force, Navy and Marines. Changed the parameters of the plane beyond need.

And yet it is still the most advanced and capable fighter in the world.
The pilots have helmets that allow them 360 view around the plane.

And unlike our adversaries, we actually know our ahit works as intended

Honestly, "Affordable" and "Advanced fighter craft that is competitive on the modern battlefield" seem pretty mutually exclusive.
Yes but while the F-35 is super nice and awesome now, it went through a lot of issues in development, went wayyyyyyy over what it was projected to cost. It was an utter failure in that regard.

The end product is nice, yes. But you aren't gonna be happy when your contractor tells you your porch is gonna cost $1000 and then hands a $20,000 bill.

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
I mean right now it's the cheapest western fighter on the market and sustainament costs are in fact going down. It's just that when you buy a metric crapload of them the program will cost a lot
