I find this measure contemptuous in its complete lack of effort.
Bye.
Well, isn't THAT interesting.

Does this mean that when Wyoming does their Primary election she'll be UNABLE to have her name on the ballot for the Republican nominee?

Seems that the debris is going to be an ongoing risk with a less specific time factor going forward, and they are going to try getting all the hatches open for normal operations again. I think the radial hatches had remained closed for a bit longer than the others.

Agreed with the above. The only adjective that should be getting used to modify 'boycott of Beijing Olympics' is 'total'. A genocide-committing dictatorial hellhole that lied (and lies) to the world about Wuhan flu deserves none of--or perhaps more accurately has forfeited the right to--any of the attentions or esoteric honors hosting the Olympics is emblematic of.

Sadly, the US (and other) governments sucking-up to the CCP, and compromising their own security, in the name of the almighty GDP-line is nothing new.

No. She can declare as whatever the hell she wants and run for a party’s nomination. This isn’t like Europe where actual party membership is limited -anyone can run for a party’s nomination in the U.S., they just have to declare themselves a member of the party in question (it’s a matter of just going to the county clerk’s office and filling out a form). Hell, Trump did it in 2015, because he was a Democrat prior to that.

Also, I’d point out the last time a state Republican party tried this was against Lisa Murkowski back in…2006? She ended up running a write-in campaign to retain her Senate seat even with another Republican on the ballot. Seeing as how she’s still very much a U.S. senator today, no prizes for guessing how that worked out.

While I agree the Olympics should be stripped away from Beijing, the IOC doesn’t care. Forget the spirit of international cooperation they claim they want, it’s like with FIFA and the World Cup -they only care about the money and ratings.

As for the 1980 boycott, it didn’t do that much since Carter really fucked up the execution of it. It mainly ended up being a propaganda win for the Soviets (though the U.S. got their own win back with the Soviets boycotting in 1984). And I don’t think the current administration would be any better at organizing a boycott attempt than Carter was, and Carter could at least point to an outright invasion of another country as the reason. Most of the leadership in the world is content to stick their heads in the sand and hope things just pass.

So, honestly, this is probably the least bad option for the U.S.

I don't think that's how it works. It's certainly not how it worked for Murkowski, who lost a primary but was never kicked out of the party. Cheney was, and I'm pretty sure parties must have some control over who can run on their ballot or enter their primary.

Yes and no. Basically, the only real rule is that the party can refuse to recognize Cheney as a member of the state GOP, but while she might not have full access to the state apparatus, it's not as big a deal given that she is an established politician and can reach out to people on her own.

Also, the vote was 31-29, so it's not like this is some sort of unanimous rebuke. It's basically a slight majority getting mad that she hates Trump (despite the fact that Cheney supported Trump's agenda far more than, say, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, or Elise Stefanik).

And again, Trump got the nomination despite being a longtime Democrat, and Bernie Sanders nearly got the Democratic nod twice despite not being a Democrat.

Yes, it's really just that weird and hands-off, since U.S. parties don't put out the kinds of manifestos that European parties do, and so the party matters less than the politicians.

I don't know the state rules.

She may not be on the ballot with the '(R)' by her name. This hurts in two ways if so:
1. She won't get a vote from everyone pulling the 'Vote Straight Republican' lever.
2. May cause some to NOT vote for her because of that. Flip-side is that this effect may be a wash b/c it could help Independents pull the lever for her.

She can run as an R. They can't really stop her from doing that.

But they don't have to support her. The party provides demographics info, voter info, campaign money, endorsements, and other assistance.

They can stop doing all that.

Something very peculiar is happening with our Strategic Petroleum Reserve
By Andrea Widburg

It’s no secret that Americans are paying record prices at the gas pumps. Rapidly ascending prices also affect the cost of all the goods and services that are an integral part of the American economy. Farmers, manufacturers, delivery companies, repair people...you name it: They’re paying more to do their jobs and they’re passing those costs to consumers. So why now, of all times, is the Biden administration selling off America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (“SPR”) to Asia?

As the name suggests, the SPR is America’s emergency backup supply of oil. The reason we have it is because of the energy crisis in the early 1970s. According to Wikipedia, which is probably accurate about this, “The United States started the petroleum reserve in 1975 after oil supplies were interrupted during the 1973-1974 oil embargo, to mitigate future supply disruptions.”

Fast forward to 2021. Upon entering the Oval Office, one of the first things Biden did was to shut down the Keystone XL pipeline. Henceforth, rather than flowing safely through a pipeline, Canadian oil will come the expensive way, over land, whether in trucks (which are in short supply) or on trains.

At the same time, Biden halted new oil, gas, and coal leases on federal lands, something that’s being fought in the courts. As long as the suit continues, though, no sane business would start to drill.

Biden’s also on the verge of ending all new oil and gas leases around major Native American cultural sites, which will shut down massive amounts of exploration and drilling in New Mexico. And following initial denials, the administration admitted that it plans to close a major Michigan pipeline.

No wonder gas pumps across America are blooming with Biden stickers like this one:

Practically overnight, America went from oil independence and being a net oil importer, to suffering shortages and, as noted, rising prices. When asked about the problem, Biden risibly blamed OPEC and Russia. Meanwhile, Jennifer Granholm, the energy secretary, simply cackled maniacally and claimed the administration was helpless.

Biden is now under pressure to tap the SPR to relieve some of the pressure on fuel prices. (Again, remember that Biden birthed this problem by squashing American fuel production, thereby creating the shortage. There’s also the little matter of his administration working with Congress to print money like rolls of toilet paper—except that toilet paper is more useful than inflationary dollars.) Even Chuckie Schumer wants to lower prices by chipping away at our SPR emergency supply, despite our having vast, untapped resources beneath American land.

It turns out, though, that Biden is already tapping into the SPR; he’s just not doing it to help Americans. A report in investment circles is finally trickling down into the mainstream news: Biden is selling massive amounts of SPR oil...to Asia!
According to Bloomberg/Quint:
About 1.6 million barrels of crude from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve -- a monthly record -- was shipped out in October, according to data from market intelligence firm Kpler.
All three supertankers went to Asia.
“Given the ongoing pace of the current SPR release -- 12 million barrels in the last two months and the biggest weekly release so far last week at 3.1 million barrels -- it’s fair to assume more SPR barrels are going to leave U.S. shores in the weeks ahead,” said Matt Smith, an oil analyst at Kpler.
As far as I can tell, the administration has not explained why, with Americans struggling to keep up with rising fuel prices, it’s shipping our SPR to Asia. During the virtual meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping, the two men allegedly discussed releasing oil from both countries’ petroleum reserves but made no mention of the sales to Asia that already took place.

It's becoming clearer daily that there is a clown in the White House, but it’s not a cute, loving clown like Bozo (although I always found him kind of creepy). Instead, we’re being led by the political equivalent of the Joker from the D.C. Comics, a mad man who wants to burn it all down.

TLDR
Biden is shipping oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to "Asia".
